I live in England and my wife has chronic kidney failure at age 26. It is illegal to buy or sell a kidney in UK and the hospital are not allowed to perform a transplant where they believe a sale has taken place. I was tested for a match but I am not. Really good to hear how many people say they would donate one. Would really like it if they all went out and got donor cards if they haven't already. The shortage is unbelievable.

Good grief. No I would not sell my kidney but if found compatible I would give a kidney to anyone whom I loved. I cant give or sell my kidney because I take medications that would not allow me to do this but theoretically if I could, my kidney would be free to a loved one.

I couldn't sell my kidney, but If I knew of a person in new of one not do to problems bought on by them-self I think I would give them one since I do have to of them. Or if I was a match for a child that needed one.

If it was for a child in desperate need of it or a family member I would hand it over but if it was going to be used in someone who has caused their kidney to fail by self infliction then I'd hang on to it.

If it was the only way I could get money to help one of my family, then I'd sell it for as much as possible. Fortunately I have enough other disposable resources, should they ever need money, so the question is hypothetical in my case.
But my heart goes out to those who are so poor that they need to do this, and I thank my stars that it will probably only ever be a hypothetical question for me

If my kidney was a match to someone and it would save their life I would give it to them for free.

I'm kind of attached to my kidneys, so there would be a strong reluctance to do so
