Was it done legally? NOTHING. They just complain for the rest of their lives. Why do they care anyway unless you are using it to stalk them. If the marriage was real then the citizenship is VALID!!!!!

British Citizenship is not automatic because a person is married to a Brit... The Home Office (should) look at the relationship of the couple... do they still live together, is there evidence of this etc. Then they check Police and revenue records. On application all applicants are asked if they have a criminal record or are they awaiting a court appearance, what their tax reference is, who they work for and if they are self employed , again their tax reference, vat number etc and are checked to see if they pay their taxes, nic etc on time, is it all up to date and whether they have a criminal record here and in their own country. Two referees are required who must not be relatives and should be of good character, preferably in a position of influence (ie a business person, a policeman etc) and be known to them for over three years. How do I know this... I'm married to someone who is presently applying for British Citizenship...

I am afraid that due to your slaughtering of the English language I was not able to fully understand your question, the way I read it it seems that the person you married didn't know that you married them. I'm confused, how can you marry someone but the other person not know about it??? Perhaps you mean that the person you married committed polygamy marrying you and now his REAL spouse is upset. That would mean that you ILLEGALLY obtained British citizenship, and that is very bad for you and him.

Nothing will happen to the British citizenship that the person has, even if they divorce now. You can apply for British citizenship after staying in UK for certain amount of time legally, but you don't need to be married, as long as your status allows you to go for it. It's not in the same category as 'marriage visa'.

Sounds like someone got married to a Brit to get citizenship...got into the country got divorced and then they went their own ways....you then met him got married and his ex is on the case threatening to tell about the whole scam and ruin your relationship. If he never told you the whole story in the first place....perhaps there's a bit more you don't know now....

They'd know. You have to be married for at lest 3 years before the spouse can apply.

And you think the panel of experts here can help? Your best bet is to advise the concerned to consult an immigration lawyer.
