Being evil means doing things that your culture deems to be evil. What's evil and what isn't varies from group to group, with a few things that are nearly universal. Killing another person, for example, is nearly universally considered evil. But even that's circumstantial. If you kill someone in defense of yourself or a loved one, for example, it's not considered evil by most, even though the act itself isn't any different, just the circumstances are.

The Greek word ka·kos´ may be defined as that which is (1) morally evil and (2) destructive; among the ways it has been translated are: “bad,” “evil,” “hurtful,” “injurious,” “wrong.”

Rightly, Jehovah brought evil or calamity upon Adam for his disobedience. Hence, in the Scriptures, Jehovah is referred to as the Creator of evil or calamity. (Isa 45:7; KJ.) His enforcing of the penalty for sin, namely, death, has proved to be an evil, or a calamity, for mankind. So, then, evil is not always synonymous with wrongdoing. Examples of evils or calamities created by Jehovah are the Flood of Noah’s day and the Ten Plagues visited upon Egypt. But these evils were not wrongs. Rather, the rightful administration of justice against wrongdoers was involved in both cases.

Since Jehovah determines the standard of right and wrong, it behooves the individual to acquaint himself with that standard fully in order to be able to discern what course must be followed. (Heb 5:14)

Originally, evil was a symbol for what is the polar opposite to God; evil is that which is not, and "not" does not exist...an opposite to God does not exist...therefore, evil does not exist.

The concept of evil has been twisted to mean an identity opposed to God, an enemy to God, and to us. But there is no such extremity.

Belief in evil will tend to produce images/experiences related to that belief, but these images are just that. It is done as we believe. Stop believing in evil and it will flee.

The Bible calls an evil heart one of unbelief - Hebrews 3:12 - and it was a reference to the children of Israel in the wilderness after Moses led them out of slavery from Egypt after God had decided that that none of that generation would enter into the promised land (Numbers 14:11-35).

Here are 6 things the Lord hates, 7 things that are abomination to Him according to Proverbs 6:17-19:

a proud look

a lying tongue

hands that shed innocent blood

a heart that devises wicked imaginations

feet swift in running to mischief

a false witness that speaks lies

and he who sows discord among brethren

Evil does not exist. It is the absence of good. Things to look for? The absence of good.

first I would say any action that is an act of rebelion against God...also it is deliberate acts of sin with the intent to harm others or to deceive them from turning to God or to turn from their seeking towards God.... in the broadest sense evil is all sin. And sin is any act against The Word and Will of God.

Without good there would be no evil, so it must be good to be evil sometimes!
