before you jog, do you warm up? after you jog do you stretch? It could be that your body is not use to it, if you havent done it in a while, but it could be signs of arthritis. Again, best thing...if is starts to hurt or swell, see a doctor.
good luck!!

Yes, there is something you can do...stop jogging. Do low impact exercises instead. Such as power-walking. Walking at a brisk pace with arms swinging. Consider getting a Gazelle. Now found @ most discount stores. You will get the stretching motion, but none of the jarring motion like in jogging.

If you don't get the popping sound while walking, it could mean that arthritis is settling in your joints. The next time you see your physician, make it a point to talk to him about the popping noise when jogging. He may want to refer you to an orthopedist who can do more extensive testing if needed. Otherwise, just stick to low-impact exercises. You might find this problem won't bother you again or it may come back to haunt you in the future. It is certainly worth talking to your Dr about.

some people who aren't use to jogging will have this happen because the muscles holding your upper knee cap in place are weakened. if you flex your entire leg so that the muscled is flexed and do this 15 times a day, holding each flex for 10 sec you will probably notice a difference. i did this as part of a physio routine that i was given a few years ago. But there are other strengthening exercises available as well.

i would recommend alexander technique
because there is a systemic problem in your movement
that is causing this.
and it sounds like it is damaging your body.
an alexander technique therapist can get you aligned correctly for jogging.
