I've successfully used Pilate's with the resistance band. It does give you tone and improves your posture. However, it is not great for overall weight lose. It doesn't involve an intense cardio workout therefore you won't reach your target heart rate. Most pilate programs instruct you to incorporate a cardio routine into the workout. If you add jogging, walking, running, cycling, etc to the workout you'll get really good results. Winsor Pilate's suggest walking for 40 minutes at 4 mph on alternate days.
