Why do we use water instead of wine? The answer to this question is found in D&C 27. I have highlighted the verses for you in the link below. It doesn't matter what we use to represent the body and blood of Christ, so long as it is done in reverence. My wife was in Argentina some years ago, and on occasion they used juice and crackers for the sacrament because that's all that was available. Bread and water are most commonly used, though. Tonyamail gave a good description of our sacramental service.

In Moroni 4 and 5 it gives the sacrament prayers. During the time for sacrament, a song is sung - one that draws our minds toward the Savior and His Atonement. Then the prayer over the bread is given. The bread is given to the Bishop first, then to the congregation. Everyone except those passing the sacrament stay in their seets. After everyone who wants it, recieves the bread (which is in a little tray that is passed down the ailse) those passing the sacrament go up to the table and return their trays. The prayer over the water is given and again the Bishop is first, then everyone else. Everyone is quiet during the sacrament, and it is looked upon as rude to leave or talk during it. Once the sacrament is over, the person conducting the meeting thanks those who blessed and passed it and invites them to sit with their families and the meeting proceeds. It's very similar to other Christian services I've been to where communion is given.

Early on wine was used, and still can be as long as the church makes it. Since that has never really happened, water is used instead. The verses are found in D&C 89. There are stories that have floated around saying that God directed Joseph Smith not to use wine one particular Sunday because it had been poisoned, and that from then on they should make it themselves to ensure it was not poisoned. But those are just stories and shouldn't be considered anything more unless verified by a General Authority.

Drampor: we dance and I love blues guitar music. We have dances all the time, especially for the teens.

Your query would not make experience. The e book of mormon would not incorporate a great form of the doctrine that the Mormon church teaches. So how is that distinctive from the Rapture lacking from the bible? So in simple terms like your query on the subject of the Rapture, i ought to assert to you "the place in the e book of Mormon does it practice on the subject of the Temple ceremonies?" the respond is, it would not. those are supposedly revelations provided after the BOM grew to become into written. in my opinion i've got not got a project with the 'including to the bible' component, by way of fact i've got faith that the Bible is likewise created via guy to furnish and enforce social administration. i've got faith that the Bible grew to become into actual written, yet grew to become into further/deleted/edited by way of fact the 'powers that be' observed extra healthful. Likewise, i've got faith the BOM grew to become into made up, yet a great number of it based on the Bible. I additionally comprehend that the Rapture is a reasonably new terminology - apparently adequate, got here approximately and popularized around 1830 in the process the non secular revivals of that element era. Coincidentally, this is an identical timeframe that the Mormon church began. i might wager that Joseph Smith prevented this term in his faith as to no longer conform with different church homes.

I wonder if the Jews in Egypt would have been skipped over during the original Pass Over if they had just ate bread and water instead of the REAL LAMB and sprinkled the REAL BLOOD on their doors.

Attend a Mormon sacrament meeting and you'll see how the sacrament is done. It's open to the public.

The water is symbolic of the blood of Christ.

----- I'm willing to share. I just think you'll learn the most by experiencing it yourself.

----- Juice can also be used (if water is not available). Water is just more commonly used.

The water and bread are blessed in the rememberance of Jesus Christ's Blood and body respectively.

If you want more info, feel free to email me.

I believe that it is the purity that the water represents.

Read the scripture Brian highlighted and it will pretty much explain. What is used is symbolic, so it really doesn't matter. What is important is that you do it in rememberance of the Savior and his sacrifice/atonement.

I heard it's because waters free. I respect frugal People, they remind me of me. Those Mormons are known to shell out on other things in a big way though, like those statues of the horn player on top of their temples!! It's funny what's important to some folk and not others. Mormons, you can't dance with them and they don't like blues guitar music but by God do they ever make good donuts!!!! Take it easy Mav, all good things.

Take SuperDDD up on his offer to visit an LDS "Ward" but don't expect to learn much real Mormon doctrine. They will be quick to give you a Book of Mormon (which has very little controversial substance in it) but they won't offer you a copy of "The Pearl of Great Price" or "Doctrines & Covenants" which they also consider "scripture" because these books contain their wacked out cultic doctrines (did you know that God lives near the planet Kolob?).

Also, don't expect to be invited into a temple. You are not worthy in their eyes. Join the LDS and give lots of money and you can become worthy.

Go ahead and drink the water but DON'T DRINK THE KOOLAID!
