Okay, I know the old joke about this being necessary "to make a fast getaway." But really, why do people do this? I guess on one hand, I really don't care, except for one particular situation. If you want to be strange and weird, go ahead and be my guest! But if you expect me to sit there patiently for 30 or 45 seconds behind you while you decide to be strange and weird, then why don't you go be weird in a way, or in a time and place that doesn't inconvenience other people?

Who came up with this weird habit in the first place? A bank robber or the Army or somebody who really did "need to make a fast getaway?"

People do this at my train station. I guess they think that parking backwards allows them to leave fastest and beat everyone else to the parking lot exit.

However, even people at the back of the lot do this. Like they're going to get to the "head of the line" before the people at the front of the lot.

Personally, it takes me much longer to properly back into a parking space than it does for me to back out of it, so I don't waste my time.

I don't always back into a parking space, but for some people, they find it easier to get out of a place if they've backed in.

I don't think it's "weird".

the ones that should not back in a parking space, are the that are between the age of 65 and above, that scares me the most, they can't remember where the brake peddle is or the gas pedel, it's been in the same spot for the last 100 years

Does it occur to you that people who back in like to do the work first instead of later? What difference does it make if they back first to get in or second to get out? You wait either way.

If they suck a$$ at backing up and take five minutes then yes, its annoying.

Actually the ones who annoy me are the one that back OUT of parking spaces because they don't pay attention to what's behind them.
if you back in...your paying attention in order to get into the space...and getting out is much easier.
I've noticed people backing out...are in a hurry to get out and they just back out not paying attention...this is what causes most accidents in parking lots....people backing out.

I don't do it, but it is required for state owned vehicles and anyone else who considers safety as a top priority!!! It's the safest and the smartest, it's people like you and me who are the as*holes!
