You must, of course, have some bratwurst. It's not a tailgate without some brats!
Cut some red and green peppers into thirds, so you have little "pepper boats". Fill them with some mozzarella, feta, and pesto. Grill for a few minutes until the cheese melts. Yummy!

Quick Buffalo Wings
Throw your wings on the grill, turning every 10 minutes, for about 1/2 an hour. Remove them and toss w/ Frank's Red Hot Louisiana Sauce & 1/2 a stick of butter. Serve w/ Celery sticks & Bleu cheese dressing. mmmmmmmmm
Marinate a flank steak the night before in worcestershire sauce, fresh minced garlic, a little olive oil, 2 tsp. of sugar & 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper. Grill the following day then slice AGAINST the grain & serve w/ skewers. They can make their own Steak On A Stick. Have fun. I'm jealous! :)

I do a great bbq brisket for tailgating....
Take a whole brisket (I get it at McGonicles at 75th-ish and Wornall), rub with Jack Stack rub on both sides. Either cook in a crock pot for 1 day or in a 300 degree oven for 8-12 hours. (Crock pot's best) Cook in a mixture of 1 bottle of liquid smoke, 1 small bottle of fat free italian dressing, and 1/2 can of Coke. After cooking, I drain off the liquid (sometimes have to do this during cooking as well), slice and shred the brisket, and add a bottle of my fave sauce (my preference is Jack Stack, my hubby likes Gates), and then cook for another hour or so (or just dump it back into the crock pot, and head to Arrowhead). Serve with buns and pickles......
Everyone I know raves about this....

You are cheering for the Chiefs, right? Otherwise these recipes are off limits, lol!
Grill some brats in a tinfoil tray with onions and bellpeppers, and when they are finnished put them in one of those disposable baking tins filled with beer and keep it all warm on the coals for stragglers.
Or, keep the dogs, and serve them with diced onions, shredded cheese, and Cincinatti Chili intead: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/skyline-chili-ii/detail.aspx
You can't go wrong with something warming, and chili always suits tailgaiting. Beef stew or potato and bacon soup http://allrecipes.com/recipe/bacon-and-potato-soup/detail.aspx is also great.
Another idea is some french dip style sandwiches. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/easy-slow-cooker-french-dip/detail.aspx
If you have one of those portable deepfryers, break out the fried chicken wings (freezer bag of the tyson ones are good) and jalapeno poppers (again, freezer section. Sam's Club has them on the cheap most of the time).
Basically, if it goes with beer, you're doing great!

There's nothing like a 3 foot Hogie and something to wash it down with. Go Long!!
1 loaf French bread, sliced lengthwise
1 large onion, thinly sliced
Shredded cheddar, Swiss or Monterey Jack cheese
Sliced stuffed green olives to taste
8 slices ham (leftovers or lunch meat)
8 slices turkey (leftovers or lunch meat)
Thick slices of ripe tomatoes, optional
Romaine lettuce
Mayonnaise
Mustard
Italian dressing, to taste
DIRECTIONS: Combine onion, cheese & olives with dressing, mixing well to coat. Spread half of the bread with mayonnaise & the other half with mustard. Layer 1 slice of bread with ham, cheese-onion mixture, turkey, tomato & then lettuce. Top with other half of bread. Slice to desired sandwich sizes; wrap the bottom half of each slice with a napkin & serve sandwiches on a platter if desired.

Lemon chicken on the grill. Just grill some chicken breast normal way, but brush with lemon juice on both sides, often. If u use wings, that's even better. Very tangy, especially if you put it in lemon juice to soak for a few minutes before grilling. Great munchers!

If you are cooking for a crowd I have something that will make it easier and it's bigger than a crock pot. We have one and love it.
