Purple being the color of royalty, I would go with amethyst and black as base darks for garlands and larger ornaments; the black ornaments in lacquer. Then I'd use lustrous cream silk ribbons and pearls with a hint of gold to accent. A tree skirt in Oriental embroidery to finish.

red, gold and brown sound good to me, but ive never seen the room so decorate it in about 2 or 3 of the colors in the room. if you have kids or want it to stand out, get bright colors and a bunch of different colors and let your kids decorate or have a blast doing it yourself or wit friends!
