My son is 25 months old and has really loose stools. We have taken my son to the pediatrican's office and they have put him on soy milk, as they think that he has a milk allergy or is lactose intolerant. That has helped him not have as many bm's per day, but he is still having at least one loose stool a day.
Is there anything I can do to harden up his stools or to help him not have such loose stools? Serious answers only please...

Hi, he might be hyper-sensitive to a lot of things that enter his stomach, have you tried feeding him shredded wheat in the morning? It is natural, he will like it and the stools should firm up, if you do not feel like your sons doc. was the right guy for him, go to another pediatrician, get a full set of labs done on him, if the problem is in his body, it will most likely show up in his blood work.
Do a complete panel would be my advise.
Good luck, God Bless and happy Thanksgiving

You do not address whether or not he has any mucous in his stool. This is a factor weighed by the pediatrician when trying to determine the cause for loose bowel movements in very young children.

You could make sure that he eats things like rice, banana, apple, cheese, vegetables and other "binding" foods.

He may be getting too much juice. Small children really don't need juice at all because they have such small stomachs and it can ruin an otherwise good appetite with a lot of sugar and little nutritional value.

Make sure, though, that he gets plenty of plain water. If his stools do not firm up with a diet that contains more natural binders and less "junk" foods, he may have a mild allergy.

Milk allergy usually results in watery stools that are foul smelling and a lot of painful gas.

he's marking his territory. 3 weeks isn't some time past...and in spite of if he's neutered, he will nevertheless spray or perhaps defecate in aspects to define that this area is his. it relatively is a possibility that the previous renter had a cat or dogs, and your cat can nevertheless scent it...which may be threatening to his new territory. the perfect difficulty i will recommend is to pass to the puppy save, and get some enzyme smell remover to placed on aspects he's sprayed. while that's dry, there are products like 'Indoor NO!' which you will spray in those comparable aspects which will discourage him from doing this. verify his clutter field is often sparkling so he would be interested in it extremely than to the partitions, and of direction, in case you spot him doing it, supply him a company NO! stable success!

Is he on any cereal yet? I used to have one of those "plungers" that looks like a bottle with a big hole in the nipple, mix up some cereal and formula or fruity baby food and give him that. Ask doc first tho...

Can he try milk yet

Bananas or applesauce. There is an over the counter item that has good bacteria in it and is suppose to help kids with loose bowels when they are on antibiotics. I cannot, however, remember the name of it.

He might be iron deficient... or he might have a bacterial infection. I came back from mexico with an infection. My Dr. said it was caused by drinking their water, or swimming in the ocean... could've been lots of things. Try giving him an iron supplement, if that doesnt work, get immodium for kids. Immodium cleared up my infection from mexico... should work on your son.

as long as he is having regular movements, and isnt' constipated, or having cronic diarrhea, I wouldn't worry too much about it, at 2 it is normal to have some loose bms.
