Your fears are normal.;) I hate needles too and I sweat anytime I have to have bloodwork. It really isn't that bad. Focus on something around the room. Don't watch the person drawing your blood and talk to them. Before they draw the blood let them know how you feel . One tip, drink lots of water both today and tomorrow before you go. If you are a little bit dehydrated it is difficult for them to find your vein . Oh yes, the needle just feels like a pinch and if they are good enough you will feel hardly anything.

Good luck, get well soon! :)

I hate it too, always have...although it's more the gross factor that we fear because it doesn't really hurt..you can feel something going on, and a prick (like a mosquito bite) when the needle goes in...but little else (esp if you have someone skilled doing it

Have the person drawing the blood, or whomever accompanies you there, talk to you when it's occuring...have them tell a story or give you something you can focus on so you aren't sitting there TRYING to tell if it hurts...

The more distraction you have, the more quickly it will be over and the next thing you know, they're putting a cotton ball in the crick of your elbow and bending your arm up...all done!

No it doesn't really hurt, if you've got good veins, then no problem. You'll just feel a small pinch when they put the needle in - just look the other way and think of something really nice - flowers, a cute kitten, what your going to have for dinner, sex with your husband or boyfriend, just something nice and it'll be overwith before you know it. DON'T CHICKEN OUT - it's not that bad - it really isn't, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'VE GOT GOOD VEINS -PIECE OF CAKE.

I have blood drawn every 6 months for my thyroid. You will be just fine turn your head close your eyes and breathe slowly, also talk to the phlebotomist before hand but not about the proceed er

pinch your skin- then pinch it one more time really hard. Thats how a needle feels. If you are really scared, just look the other way, and breathe. Focus directly on your breathing and try to keep it steady and constant. Good luck

look away and breath deeply, very simple one stick if they are good. Tell them you are nervous and ask for the best phlebotomist to work on you. Afterwards you will be fine and think you were scared for nothing. It's really easy. I think taking the bandaid off afterwards hurts more.LOL

You won't feel a thing except a little prickle.
They only have to do it once regardless of the number of tests.

Hang in there...it'll be over before you know it.

I avoided getting a test forever, and then I finally had one. It really isn't that bad, just don't watch.
