the standard bullet for the AK-47 is a 135 grain or a 146 grain boat tailed spitzer with copper wash coating. Thisis the bullet for the 7.62 calibre.
The AK is chambered in so many different calibres that you must know your bore diameter to be sure.

7.62X39 Russian, a round which has become commonly avalible and also very economically priced. It is a .30 cal. bullet (same diameter as a .308).

The AK clones come in .22, .223, .308, 7.62x39, 9x53R, 30-06, 5.45x39.5, .410, 20ga and 12ga. It will say on the rifle which caliber it takes.

traditonally it is the 7.62x39, but they are made in .223 and .308 as well as shotgun rounds in the clones of the ak-47 marketed here in the US.

it uses the rimless 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge. the casing is tapered, which is why the rifle has such curved magazines
