If you join the military (reserve or active duty) does this make you an independent. Can you be emancipated automatically? can you get your GED without parental consent this way? Please respond as accurate as possible.

You can join with parental permission at 17 no youger, but you would have to have the GED in your hand before you could enlist. Once in, YES, you are independent except for the fact that you belong to the military for however many years you enlisted for.

You can join the Military if you are 17 with parental consent. I assume you already know this because you stated you have consent. It is possible to join the military without a high school education. However, it is more difficult because only a small percentage of enlistees are permitted to join without a high school education. Also, remember each branch has different standards for enlistment. Some branches may permit you to enlist without a high school education and others will not. The best way to answer your questions concerning enlistment is to ask the recruiters from all of the services.
Finally, military service alone does not emancipate you. Emancipation depends on state law and every state is different. In some states you are an adult at 17.

I joined the military at 17 with parental consent and no HS diploma. I obtained my GED and AA Degree while on active duty during my first enlistment. I found that the jobs were extremely limited without a HS Diploma in the military and advancement was almost impossible. A lot of hard work later I made it to E-9 and have Earned an MBA degree. You can do exactly what you put your mind to do. In your case I would study some more and get my asvap score up. That was my ticket in, I scored in the upper 10%. Just study and have a buddy ask questions until you know the answers by heart.
Good Luck!

Well, you can't join the military without parental consent before the age of 18. You don't need emancipation if you're 18... So the question is moot.

You have to have your GED or diploma BEFORE you join the military. All the branches have different criteria concerning diplomas. The Air Force REQUIRES a HS diploma for entrance, where the Army and Navy will take a GED. But the point is, you have to have the GED or diploma before entering. Then you have to take the ASVAB to see what you qualify for.

Once your in the military you are an adult free of your parents in short uncle sam owns you! The hazy area would be delayed entry in that case your parents still rule until you head off to boot camp. As for your GED you are at least 17 years old! get the damn thing or you won't get in at all! I am not sure what the heck the problem is with your parents that they would block you from being educated.

You can't join until you're 18. You have to have at the very least a GED - but they only allow a certain number of those in. most have a diploma.
Sorry.

You will not be allowed to enlist if you are under the age of 18, unless you have parental consent.

WHEN YOU JOIN THE MILITARY YOU WILL NOT BECOME PROPERTY OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT... YOU CAN GET A GED IN THE MILITARY, BUT IF YOUR UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YOU WILL NEED YOUR PARENTS CONSENT TO JOIN ANYWAYS. I WAS 17 WHEN I JOINED THE ARMY AND BOTH MY PARENTS HAD TO SIGN FOR ME TO GO.
