Bankruptcy does not dissolve federal tax debt nor most state tax debt. but I have heard of people paying all of their back taxes with a credit card just before filing bankruptcy, not that I would suggest that.

Generally, you can not bankrupt out of a tax liability but that may vary based on the jurisdiction.

Ask your lawyer.
