Paul was actually called Saul before he became a Christian. As Saul, he was an influential member of Jewish society, since he was a Roman citizen, educated by Gamaliel, and a member of a well to do family. His zeal for God was misdirected by the corrupt pharisees and sadducees who had lost God's favor when they conspired to put Jesus to death. Saul was a vicious persecutor until the vision that you speak of. God took such extraordinary means to "help" Saul because He knew that Saul's talents could be used to further the spread of the good news. After he became Paul, he wrote more books of the Christian Greek Scriptures than anyone else and was given the gift of tongues and visions by God. These were necessary for Paul to fulfill his commission to preach to the Gentiles of the day. Through God's miraculous help, he was able to become "all things to all people for the sake of the good news." I bring all this up because Paul received these "revelations" for a specific reason: to fulfill God's purpose at that time. God no longer performs such acts because He no longer has a purpose for them. However, many people do decide to seek out the truth about God and His purposes at different times in their lives. It is during this time that honest hearted ones are helped to see the truth, often with God's direction.

Yes but, what he showed me is this -- Jesus' is God and his mission on Earth was not to blind people but, to bring sight to the blind. So when Paul met up with Jesus he was not struck blind but, he suddenly could REALLY see, and he saw that he was already blinded by something with scales over his eyes. Now what has scales other than a fish? A SERPENT!! That's what was blinding Paul not Jesus. When Paul was baptized the scales fell from his eyes because the serpent that was blinding him died on the cross with Jesus. Jesus put HIM to death then, Jesus rose from the dead and so did Paul. Thanks be to God!!!

When I read the new testament, and compare Jesus and Paul, I truly wonder if Jesus would have been friends with him. Not due to persecution, but because, Paul was what Jesus was against. Jesus spoke in parables and allegory. Paul was very prescriptive, like he was brought up, like the Pharasees and Sanhedrin.
With that said, Paul was a great philosopher, and spiritual leader. Paul headed toward holiness and proved it by his actions. Jesus headed toward people, and proved it by his actions. Both men are good and encompass most people's thinking. Unlike most of us, both men chose death rather than renounce their beliefs.

Yes I was unbeliever until I encountered the most incredible plate of Linguine Alfredo on the road to Venice, at first I thought it was dinner but really it was a revelation from the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Praise be to God. Amen.

Hmm... I have a different take on this topic and I know it's not a popular one. So I'll move on to the next query.
Thanks for the two points just the same!
Peace be with you.
