London is a wonderful place to live. Fantastic public transport that takes you wherever you need to go, brilliant places to eat - from smart restaurants to cheap and tiny noodle bars and cafes. The shopping is great - shops, department stores, markets etc. So much to do and see, with wonderful culture. It is multicultural and diverse, the scenery changes throughout, easy access to everywhere else in Britain. The atmosphere is great - lots of people who love their city. It is expensive - travel, rent, food etc, and it can be dangerous. But employ some common sense (sit downstairs on a nightbus, dont walk though badly lit areas alone, dont flash belongings etc) and you should be fine. I have lived there 21 years and have been mugged, which was horrid, but in the end all i lost was a purse and phone - i have never been hurt or attacked. It that respect it isnt very different from any city in the world, but the people, way of life and endless amounts of things on your doorstep are unique.

London is so great. I live in New York so i've seen the big city. London is so nice ppl are friendliar the streets are cleaner the underground system is better and its just better. I was there for a week and it was so fun the underground is so simple i'm 13 and i could get from point A to point B in a sinch. Unlike here its so complicated. If i could live in london i would choose it like that the entire city was great and transportation and food and entertainment is not a problem london's got everything!

It's so multicultural you can find whatever you want to in London whether you're after different food in restaurants or music in clubs. It's got loads of history and you can experience some of London for free such as the museums.I must agree that it is an expensive place to live but once you're here there's no point in moaning about it just enjoy it.

If you love grey looking buildings, a multicultural society, your mobile snatched from your hand, beggars asking for money, people always in a hurry with no time to say hello, dirty streets, a transport service that's never on time and constant traffic jams, then London is for you.

On the positive side you can enjoy the architecture, the green parks, foods from different countries and earn a good salary.

I moved away from England about 2 years ago - I was born in London. I certainly wouldn't want to go back. I find it a depressing place.

It is a great place to live, but in my opinion not for more than a few years. It's a great place to earn decent money in the job of your choice, meet people, go out to an endless choice of Pub's, clubs, theatre, cinema, museums, galleries, shops etc.

It has great public transport and is one of the few places in the UK where it's actually more hastle to have a car most of the time.
Great sights - you'll always feel pretty special walking down the embankment or the south bank after a night out.

The downside is that you can't sail, climb, or mountain bike without leaving but you pay your money and take your choice!

Yes it is.

Great things:

Always something happening, whether it be a commercial promotion, council funded, a religious celebration.

Top quality entertainment - best bars/clubs/theatre/cinemas/concerts

Culture - best museums/art exhibitions etc..

History - you can just walk the streets and take in all the famous and not so famous sights

Diversity and tolerance - everyone lives here and everyone for the most part just gets on with their own life - you have the whole world on your doorstep, and at the same time are free to be as individual or downright insane as you want.

Who told you London was a good place to live? It's dreary, dismal and extremely expensive to boot! I'm English, but I live in Rio de Janeiro. It is the exact opposite of the above. Dreary? Never! And cheap and fun and hot! Several of my friends who lived in London have come here. Why not join us? I, personally, as you must have gathered, would never live anywhere else.

I would love to live in London...if I could afford it. Lots to do, they have better health care, near a lot of different places so you could travel a lot more, and they have the underground so goodbye car payments lol.
