Sometimes we are just so caught up in things and forget to show our children how much they mean to us. This was emailed to me, just wanted to share...
To My Child:
Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and
laugh when I feel like crying.
Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and
smile and say how perfect it is.
Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry, and pick
you up and take you to the park to play.
Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you
teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.
Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the
computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles..
Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble
when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you
one if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you
are concerned.
Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I
won't stand over you trying to fix them.
Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a
Happy Meal so you can have both toys..
Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story
about how you were born and how much I love you.
Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry.
Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the
porch and count all the stars.
Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my
favorite TV shows.
Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that I was given the greatest gift ever given.I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms, and mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and screaming inside that they can't handle it anymore. And when I kiss you good night I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then, that I will thank God for you, and ask him for nothing, except one more day..............

I am now 62 and am a grandmother to two, a boy and a new little girl. Sometimes I wish I had had as much time to appreciate my own kids when they were little. I do adventures with my grandson that I didnt have time to do with his mother. My new little one is too small for adventures but they will happen. I was so young when my kids were young and I had to work full time. But all those little things do pop up and when I hear the words "I remember when you and me..." from my kids I just get tickled that we did alot of those little things together and they still remember. How important those little things are and how special they can make us feel when we are older.

That is very nice .I heard something like that years ago and it left an imprint on me. I am a mom who tries to always notice and appreciate my children and grandchildren. If I don,t hear from one of them in a few days I get n contact with them to just say I love you. I spend alot of time doing the little things. as I came to know a long time ago its not about how big the house is or what kind of car you drive or even how much money you make its about the memories that you create . So when we are gone its the memories that are talked about.

Most of the poem was lovely and yes I could do that, but there were bits in the middle which screamed I would have a spoilt brat and a fat spoilt brat. Give your child all your love, as much attention you spare and yes do things together, but you still have to teach them the ways of life, respecting one another, tidying up after making a mess, not screaming to have your way (selfishness). No matter how much you love them they still have to grow into kind, respretful, loving, thoughtful adults.

This makes me want to cry as I have to type a letter for a group counceling meeting to tell the bio parents why it would be better for them to relinquish their rights instead of having them terminated by the court. (this termination hearing has been set, so we don't have much time)

That was sweet. I am proud to say I never forget the little things, and I don't sweat the "stressful" things. I have seen my daughter die and come back to us several times, after that it puts everything else in perpective
