Re. "Us young peeps use this type of languge when communication in writing its probly the over 40's on this site doing this to us"
I despair...!
But then, I suspect that's probably wrong. Most older "peeps" have given up on that sort of thing, hoping/expecting you'll figure it out eventually.
My guess is that the bulk of the people complaining are other "young peeps" -- and I apologise; "young peeps" sounds like an insult to me -- who cringe at how the hordes of "im rofl r u?" sorts make their generation look.
Re. ""im doin a survey on wot i lik 2 eat" can anyone not understand that?"
I can't. How would you survey other people on what _you_ like to eat?
At the risk of being catty, I can't help but point out that these sorts of "why do people complain about my illiteracy?" queries almost always come from people whose writing, once 'translated,' has flaws beyond just the spelling.
"And i am talking about on this i ask a question and they all start givin me a lectureon english. y cant i spell how i like!" has problems beyond the spelling.
The nonsense about it being "cute," a text messaging side effect, etc, is negated by garbage like "understandible." This isn't like typing "luv," or even "LOL." You just can't spell; there's nothing at all good to be said about that.
Why can't you be illiterate? Well, because this is a text-based medium, and a fairly anonymous one, so how you write is all I have to go on.
I concur with "get a library card." Get a subscription to a daily newspaper, too. The ability to express yourself in a manner which people want to hear is a very valuable one; even 'USA Today' does not -- last I looked -- writ s1llee.

it really is because they're in many cases a bunch of twats. anybody with a heritage in toddler progression or practise of any form could recognize that you won't be able to generalise. I say won't be able to 'carnt' so i can see the position that comes from. Spell checks are crap. well-being care specialist John is inaccurate about dyslexia being made up - i might want to have an interest to understand the position he heard that one. Your meaning is clearer than a good number of posters who may spell more effective, so improve a thick skin and attempt now to not enable it complication you.

No, no we can't. Spelling things the way you do makes you sound like a poorly schooled moron. You can't spell the way you want because those are not words, it's not part of the English language. If you insist on using this as a means of communicating at least opt to spell properly for the sake of the answerers who are unfortunate enough to read your poorly executed question.
Overall, you sound like an idiot, and the fact that your are defending your horrible excuse for a language is even worse.

The words you use, demonstrate your intelligence -- whether you are speaking or writing. You can't control other people, you can only control your reaction to other people. So if you don't like how other people view you, do something to fix it. If your spelling is the problem, use spell-check or, better yet, practice your spelling. Best-guess spelling or whatever they're calling it nowdays doesn't cut it in the real world. Sorry, honey.

Bad spelling makes you look bad because most people learned how to spell in grammar school so you shouldn't be spelling your words after the 3rd or 4th grade. Spelling words correctly is easy. Learning the complete definition takes time!

Spelling wrongly just gives the impression that you are stupid and immature. You also seem to have an attitude problem. Just carry on regardless if you want to be ridiculed, otherwise join your library and get some books to read. Your spelling will soon improve.

Because if you don't spell and punctuate properly people are liable to misunderstand you, if indeed they bother to look beyond the first sentence anyway. For instance they might read the title of this and assume you are really saying "I smell bad, so what".
There is no need to advertise the fact you are ignorant.

I think it's totally cool !! It would make my job a lot easier when you sit in front of me for an interview. I'd just have to pick up your application form and see that you're a pleb who has no education and I wouldn't have to offer you the job. Currently, my role is that much harder as candidates (thankfully) are of a higher calibre and therefore my choice is not easy. Keep it up girl, you'll be emptying my bins in a few years.

It's because kids like you are lazy and want to take short cuts or rewrite the English language ! If you went to school in the 70's or 80's, you would have never graduated !!
