Toronto is Wonderful... And I Lived in the Downtown Area for the past 6 years. It has everything you look for in a great city... night life, shopping, great restuarants, bars and night clubs, theatre - currently "Wicked" and "Pippin", great movie theatres (one with the best in current independent films - the Carlton), little Italy, little Greece, little India, little... everything! The gay village and it's Pride celebrations. A Worls Class Film Festival, open to the Public... The Toronto Film Festival. There are world class hospitals, and the best transit system in North America. Also great sports venues.... major league Hockey and Baseball (cheap tickets), and CFL Football with the Argos! Awesome concerts, and live music scene. Plus, you can actually hail a cab here! Museums, Art Gallery, The CN Tower (World's Tallest Free Standing Structure), Harbour Front Festivals, Ferry Boats to the Toronto Island for Sun and Fun, The Canadian National Exhibition at Summer's End...
It is inexpensive to visit, good value for the dollar, clean and definitely friendly. Plus close to major attractions like The Toronto Zoo, Canada's Wonderland, Science Centre, I could go on and on. I would walk home from work (I'm a RN) well after midnight in all weather and never once felt unsafe. Low crime rate
Plus, we are close to the Niagra and Rama casinos, and there are regular buses from the downtown terminal to get you there.
I've visited many other top 10 cities, like Vancouver, Las Vegas, New York, Paris....
And Vancouver is great if you like to ski (close to whistler) and has many similar qualities to Toronto, but is not the same kiind of Big City.
Las Vegas is great if you like to Gamble.
New York is great but a little scary, sooooo many people, it moves very fast.
Paris is great if you can afford it.
But, Toronto, it really has everything for everyone from Adults to Young Families, and you get good value for your dollar, and it is really safe.
Can't wait to see you here!

As a Hamiltonian, who has frequently visited the city, I have to say that multiple visits are not a necessity. It's fun to make the hour drive once in a while, but it's nothing too special once you've seen the city once or twice. Toronto has great night life however, so unless you're looking for family fun, it'd be a great place to go for a night out.
However, if someone was coming up from the U.S. to visit Canada Land, Toronto would be a great place to start. Check out the Royal Ontario Museum, or if you're not afraid of heights, the CN tower.
Other cities to consider in Ontario would be Hamilton (shameless plug), Ottawa, or if your looking for Gambling, Windsor or Brantford.

Toronto is your home to a vibrant mix of tourist attractions, from museums and galleries to the planet popular CN Tower and, only down shore, Toronto Islands and you are able to visit all of this if you decide on Toronto for yours vacation and the spot to make that decision is here hotelbye . Toronto supplies a vibrant Entertainment District, offering the newest musicals and other performing arts, and the old Distillery District. The Royal Ontario Museum, referred to as the ROM, is among Canada's premier museums having an international popularity for excellence. It houses a highly skilled series and also functions important exhibitions from around the world. A controversial expansion of the facility found a modern side offering glass and sharp sides included onto an extremely conventional older building. The memorial includes collections protecting a great selection of times from throughout the world.

Toronto (as someone said) is the most multi-cultural city in the world. As well as one of the safest metropolitan cities in the world, and one of the cleaniest. NYC has about a little over a million more then Toronto does when it comes to our population. But the GTA (Greater Toronto Area has about 8 million in total). However a lot of our clubs/bars are owned my those who own bars/clubs in NYC. We have many great places to shop, like the Eaton Centre, Yorkdale, and Yorkville, which is where most celebs stay during TIFF & many live there, like Rachel McAdams. We are a unique city, not like NYC, but that's a good thing. Also:Toronto is consistently rated as one of the world's most livable cities by the Economist Intelligence Unit

Toronto is at present the most multicultural city on earth (yes, even more so than New York or Los Angeles). It's performing arts scene is 2nd only to New York's. And it's in Canada, a now much more tolerant country than the States and away
from G. Bush's lies and hypocrisy.

Toronto is really neat. I went there in the mid-90s and really want to go back. I liked it a lot. It has a wonderful night life, very international feel, you actually feel like you are in another country. I went in the summer, it was very humid. I imagine the winters can be very cold. As far as big cities go I liked it second to Chicago, but just barely.

Toronto's all right, but I enjoy Montreal more. I like the people there better too. If you are interested in museums and history, you should check out Ottawa, the Capital, or Quebec City. Both will be having large winter festivals soon (Winterlude and Carnivale).

Growing up near Toronto, I would go there often. It is an amazing city because it is so multicultural, and the transit system is excellent. Against other major cities? I wouldn't know.

Toronto is definitely one of my favorite cities in the world. It is like a smaller and cleaner version of New York without the attitude. I still like NYC better, probably because Toronto's Spanish Caribbean population is almost non -existent ( Cubans, Puerto Ricans, and Domincans) and NYC's nightlife is better.
