Ive been told their are ways of leaving Basic at E-2 or E-3. Im not talking about having an associates degree under your belt but there is sometihng else you can do. What is it? That applies to the Coast Guard or Navy (I know you already leave Coast Guard BT at E-2)

It's pretty common these days, mostly done by signing for 6 years active instead of 4.
My daughter finished tech school as an E-3, went below the zone for E-4, was selected Air Force Material Command Airman of the year (automatic promotion) and made E-5 in 3 years .
So if you want rank quickly the way to do it is to first enlist for 6 years active, and then get serous and work your butt off instead of drinking and carousing.

Yeah, basically during Basic, the drill sgt will pick some to go into what they called acclereated advancement. came down to who did better on the PT test.

Funny is that of my Basic training platoon, I made SSG first. and I wasn't in the fasttrack program.

In the army, each company will get X number of waivers to promote E3s to E4s prior to the mandatory promotion to E4 at 24 months. So those that are in the fasttrack program come to a company as E3s but at 1 year service everyone will be an E3. Then its just a matter of being the best soldier and demonstrating that to your Plt SGT.

I havent been through basic in 5 years, but I remember that if you did an outstanding job and passed every PT test, were nominated platoon guide, and were an all around outstanding soldier, you could be promoted by the company commander..
