Tyrone Williams is the truck driver who was arrested for having lots of illegal aliens in the back of his truck of which 18 died due to heat. Is he just a victim of circumstances (poor needing money) or should he be set free. I am not playing the "race card" but should he be released because he just wanted to make an extra buck smuggling illegal aliens north?

He shouldn't be released, that was a crime, I know that most of the illegals that cross the border know that is dangerous, but he had to be aware of the danger they were all going trough

No. It doesn't matter what he did it's still illegal and he should pay for what he did.

What if he robbed some innoncent person on the street. Maybe shot and killed them. Would that be excusable since he was just a poor man trying to make a buck (by doing something illegal) ?

Also keep in mind why we have laws in the first place. It's not just about this Tyrone it's about the people who died due to his actions (granted they weren't forced into it but)
What kind of message would it be sending if he got off scot-free? That you can do illegal things and get away with them. Why bother having laws in the first place if you're going to let emotion (feeling sorry for poor people) get in the way of enforcing them?

The other poster is right too, plenty of poor people and they don't all break the law. It's a slap in the face to them

He was motivated by greed and he caused the death of 18 people while engaged in ILLEGAL smuggling. Hum... smuggling fruit pickers this time, maybe terrorist's with the cash for the same service the next time, money is money right?
I say why take chances with security. You going to trust Tyrone's poor judgment on who he offers to bring into the country ILLEGALLY? Not me, Hang um high!
Bring on the next case and we might be out of here before dinner time.

Just as Illegal is Illegal, Murder is Murder!! Let's say a Mexican legal immigrant is smuggling people in and those people die, should he not be prosecuted as well??!! Hellooooo!! Arent those the same people we are complaining about all day here. Of course, anybody having anything to do with smuggling illegal immigrants into our country should be prosecuted!!

He deserves to be punished severely,he did knowingly commit a serious crime. Needing money is not an excuse to break the law.And if your actions contribute to death, a voluntary manslaughter charge. He should not be released until he has been punished. It doesn't matter about his race or his need of money.

He had 18 human beings in the back of his truck that died of heat, he should spend his life in prison, no parole- or get the death penalty.

Death(s), as the result of an illegal act, is a serious crime and should be prosecuted and adjudicated within the judicial system.

I have to say I agree with SittinPretty! If not else, he was aiding and abetting criminals (the illegals).
