Dogs are very intelligent and know that you are at home at the time they want to go out and probably because you have always given in when she barks, she knows exactly what to do.
I would just say to yourself "is'nt it nice to be wanted" or watch that programme on Channel 4 at 8.00 Tuesday nights about training dogs and you could change the barking, if it is really annoying you.

Do you take her out at the same time on the weekend. My dog waits for my alarm to go off during the week and as soon as the hear it the know I'm getting up, but they wait until I take a shower and get ready. However, my alarm does not go off on the weekend so they jump on the side of my bed stare at me until I let them out, but they will bark at my boyfriend to get him out of bed.Your wife probably takes them out at the same time on the weekdays and they know when that doesn't happen they have got to make you take them out. Be for real, how long would it take you to let them out if they didn't bark. Dogs can be smart. They know my boyfriend is not dependable and that he needs a push, but my dogs know I won't forget about them.

Be happy they're just barking. My husband gets a paw in the face on the weekends.

Internal clock is right. My dogs won't wake my husband to save their own lives. You can bet though that every morning at exactly 5:45am I have two noses in my face (I walk them in the mornings).
At bedtime though, the dogs will go to him to let them out because he's always the last to let them out at night.
Do you do something different with the dog then your wife does on the weekends?

You are home all day, that is how the dog knows it is the weekend; plus, they do have a sense of time. I would guess the weekends belong to daddy.

its just an internal clock. we as humans know its the weekend because of calendars and such, but animals know it because of the sun setting and such...
also, when you first got your dog, you most likely started out that way, with your wife during the week, and you during the weekend, and your dog remembers that.

Animals quickly adapt to their masters/mistresses routines. They also observer their peoples' daily activities. For example, my Siamese lady cat has learned that shortly after sunrise, I get up so she patiently sits by my bed and waits. Once she sees me stir, then she is all over me, purring and giving me head butts to get up and feed her and play. She has learned that when she sees me taking a shower to get ready for work in the afternoon, it is time for her to settle in for her afternoon nap. Every night when I come home from work, (I work second shift) she is sitting in the kitchen window, waiting for my truck to pull in the driveway. How she knows it is time to post the nightly vigil in the window is a mystery to me.
