and I went to my 1st graders class today for a turkey lunch and to visit. It is family education week. A kid that was sitting across from mine in class was coughing out on him it seemed like. This made me kind of angry. The kid clearly did not feel well his head was down and coughing alot. I said something to the teacher about him coughing on my son and she said he was to the health room and his father was coming for lunch and he will probably go home. Now I am afriad that my son will get sick since he was coughing all over him. My husband said to forget about it and I cannot. I am crazy?

well, i am sure at one point your son will cough on someone else. your son will most likely catch that cold. germs are everywhere, u would be surprised at how much is in your own bed. u need to get over it because your son will be exposed to many germs in the next few years.

i am very cautious of germs too. i teach my son to wash his hands before he eats, after playing outside, using the restroom. i teach him to cough into his arms. we have hand sanitizers everywhere. u should put a hand sanitizer into his bag.

one of my coworkers is like u and her daughter started kindergarden in september, she donated like 5 bottles of hand sanitizers to her kids class.

teach him not to share cups or food with anyone. this is the most u can do, to really protect him. unless u want to keep him home and put him in a plastic bubble.

In a word- yes.

Who cares if your son gets sick. Okay what I mean is, it's not great but it's a fact of life.
Get over it.
You won't always be there to watch who's coughing on him or where he's sticking his hands and what he's rubbing all over his face etc. I hope you didn't let him (the son) hear you or you'll be making him paranoid too.

Being too clean is bad for children and can leads to allergies and they are taking illnesses harder because they've been so protected from every little thing. It will make his immune system stronger to be exposed to a little now and then, which you can't really prevent anyway.

No. You're not crazy. That isn't an irrational fear of germs. That's how colds are spread. But your husband is right. There's little you can do about, other than to give your kid plenty of vitamin C and possibly other cold preventers. Otherwise: forget about it. Obsessing won't help.

your not crazy your just protective or your little boy.... and its ok if he get sick.... thats the only way to build his immune system.... just keep giving him vitamins and orange juice and he should be ok... and if he does start getting sick some chicken noodle soup... other than that your just being a protective mom... its normal....
