The vaccines base is made of albumin, a protien found in eggs... If you are allergic to chickens or eggs, then you will have a reaction to the flu vaccine.

I'm assuming that the injection has an egg or chicken protein base to it. Some injectable drugs are a horse serum base. Certain animal serums are better absorbed by the human body. Anyway, they ask so that they canmake sure you don't have a severe allergic reaction like anaphylaxis, which is a respiratory reaction that can cause your throat to swell shut. If it is not treated quickly, death is the likely result.

There is a moment vaccine that's not made with eggs, it isn't particularly as strong (you wish to have two doses as a substitute of one million) that is why they use the egg founded one. But they've the non-egg one to be had for folks with allergic reactions. In the UK, that's. If you Canadians need to take the egg one regardless... ha ha

The vaccine is cultured in eggs and some people, who are allergic to eggs, can be allergic to the vaccine.
