Before my husband took over he worked part time for him and he was supposed to recieve 50 % of the profits from the work he performed. and instead he asked for 25% so that the other 25% could go to business expenses. He also paid for his own gas, insurance, and tags, title on his work van. so I dont really feel that i am being stingy i just feel that we have already paid our share.

Your husband took over his family business. HIS family business means that HE is also responsible for HIS family debts. If he chooses to take on his father's debts then who are you to object?

How would you feel if he refused to pay some bill for your mother, something she couldn't afford to pay? At least your dad has a business that will make that money back, can you say that for any of your family members that you might lend money to?

Don't be so darn stingy, or you'll end up with nothing, which will be what you will deserve if you keep this attitude!

It depends on how you "bought" the business...assets along with liabilities...check with your attorney! If you bought the business as it, then yes it's your responsibility.
