and you give the right answer, they give you a thumbs down. Especially when all information can be easilly researched. Is it because people are skeptic or is it because they wait for the person who is going to tell them what they want to hear. What's your opinion.

I asked for peoples opinions. Some of you have received thumbs down from each other even though all of you are correct. And I have received one up and one down because someone is offended from a simple question. I personnally will give all of you thumbs up because this is what I am talking about. This particular question Has brought out all kinds. I will like to see what else. Thank you to all.

This question did not have a right or wrong answer. It was a way for each individual to voice their view based on how they interpreted the question. It's not about the rating system or whether they like my answer. It's about who we are and how we choose to live our lives. Some of you got it.

Well Sophie.....I too have been wondering this. It seems like the more unintelligent, the more ludicrous. and the more raunchy an answer is the better it is liked. I will not lower my standards and give a smart A** comment just to make someone smile. I try to give information that is factual, honest and sensitive to the question that is being asked. I do not try to offend anyone with stupid of the wall sexual comments. Most people want to write something disgusting and sexually perverse.

No, that is a rating from anyone on Y!A. The people who give out the ratings, don't even necessarily answer the question.
But, I also think most people who ask certain types of questions are waiting to see what they want to hear.
So just answer the questions to the best of your ability, and you'll get the recognition you're looking for.

Chick, it is more to do with opinion rather than the content. I did a search of my answered questions last night (after I reached my limit) and some of hte questions I have answered that were well thought out and backed up were passed by for favoritism of users. Such as one question I broke my brain on answering was passed by for a best answer of "Hey dude, how have you been"
When I pick a best answer I try to look at content, backed up facts, and just well thought out, regardless if the answer agrees with my POV or not. Which, anyway I am just a fair person.

Everyone has a different point of view and sometimes people KNOW they know the right answer. Someone else may have given you the thumbs down for your particular response to a question.

The thumbs down could be from anyone that looked at the answers. There's no way to tell who did it. It could just be someone that didn't like your answer or disagrees with you, whether you were correct or not.

Thumbs down does not always come from the person asking.
Anybody can rate a question or answer.

Wear each thumbs down as a badge of honor, especially if you received them in the "Politics" or "Religion & Spirituality" sections. As a rule of thumb, if the majority disagrees with you, you're probably right!

Some people are just jerks like that... Some people may not think that an answer is right, and sometimes its like that old saying... Opinions are like @$$holes, everyone has one, but some stink worse than others.
