I hope you don't mind, but I'm just going to copy and paste a previous answer I posted to a similar question:

It's called a social contract. Morals and integrity do not come from religion at all. Religion preaches about morals, but from the example of many religious leaders, it's not always the priority.

A social contract is basically not doing to someone what you don't want to be done to you. I'm not going to kill people because I don't wish to be killed. I don't damage property because I know I wouldn't want my property to be damaged.

People who have no morals are "sociopaths", getting the "socio" from the "social" from social contract and getting the "path" from the Greek word "pathological," meaning "uncontrolled or unreasonable".

the reason something like this could't be grasped is by way of the fact Christians don't think this. in reality Christian theists anticipate atheists to have expertise of morality by way of fact it particularly is "written on their hearts" (Romans 2:14&15). The query for the Atheist isn’t how are you able to be ethical, yet particularly on what foundation are you grounding your habit (or absolutely everyone’s habit for that remember) as ethical or immoral? How does the atheist exact floor the existence of purpose ethical values?

I do not believe that atheists have no morals. However, I do believe that morals come from religion - they are the essence of religion. All the things you stated are part and parcel of religion, Islam is what I am talking about as a muslim.

It is like you are a muslim but you do not believe in God and do not perform rituals. Why? When you are such a good person? What is 'religion' to you? Prayers at the church or mosque and that's it?

Religion is a way of life. Islam is a part of every thing I do. Work, family, fun, education, eating, marriage, charity, hospitality, travel, chastity, everything.

I respect you for being a good person and respect your choices no matter what. I only feel sorry for you.

May Allah have mercy on us all

Peace

Because you don't need a god to have morals. You only need to live in this society. Too bad some idiots don't understand that and find it more convenient to blame god.

You have a conscience.....God has given you one. You can do all things well and be a "good" person - it still doesn't change the fact that you are a sinner - and therefore separated from God because of that. You will stand before Creator God when you die and He will ask you - What did you do with My Son - Jesus Christ?" And nothing you say about this life on earth will matter because you rejected Him.

Non believers do have morals, they do act "good" I don't know of any Chrisitan who says otherwise.

Being good doesn't expempt your sins, though.

Nobody cares, quit trying to justifiy your blessing, by" oh I have this or that, and I do not belive in God" We will see how God judges you. Do not brag or boast.

No one is truly moral; not even Christians! We are all born into sin, therefore, we are sinful individuals who are not worthy of eternal salvation.

In order to obtain it, we must, through faith, accept Christ's sacrifice on the cross.
