I don't bash theists. I don't go to churches when I need help, unless it is to get out of the rain and the building's handy. I don't go to hospitals because they were started by Christians. I go to hospitals because they have doctors.
And you are a bit of a hypocrite, yourself. Your cousin gave you a compliment, saying that she recognizes that Christians are generous to those in time of need. Even though she doesn't agree with your religion (which you interpret as "bashing"), she told you that she does think that Christians provide good services for those in desparate need. Of course, that doesn't mean that your cousin actually thinks a god exists.
Don't assume that atheists think that Christians are totally evil.

I highly doubt that there would be no hospitals if Christianity never existed. I think it is highly conceited to think that. There are a few punk atheists that like to see the controversy debated, but I think that bashing has come from both sides of the fence. That said, what I see as educating Christians on the myths of the bible is not bashing at all. (granted there is more appropriate ways that I, as an Atheist, can go about helping educate those people.)

Where do you get the info that most hospitals were started by Christians? When it's obvious it was started by science. There are many other places to go to for help besides a church, I've been helped by Atheists. You don't have to have religion to ask for help or be helped.

Is there some free christian hospital that I am unaware of?
Hospitals charge a hefty fee for their service, whether they are started and run by christians or not. It ain't a charity.
As for churches, I am not an atheist but I am a pagan so I guess in your book I am lumped with atheists. I have never asked for help from a church. I can't speak for others.

1.) I don't "bash" anyone, I just don't necessarily agree with them.
2.) I don't go to churches or synagogues or any other religious place when I'm "in need."
3.) I know of lots of hospitals that were not started by Christians. Many if not most of the hospitals where I live are secular, run through the universities in my town, neither of which are religiously affiliated.

Why are you picking a fight? I am not a Christian, but does that mean I am not allowed to go to a hospital because it may have been started by a Christian? Does Jesus not love all humans? Does Jesus want everyone to suffer? I doubt it. I don't bash Christians unless they give me a reason to. Just because someone is not a Christian does not mean they should be barred from hospitals. I wouldn't dare ask a church for help either.

Most hospitals were started by secular organizations, those few that have been bough out by christian organizations are sub par having been compromised by christian moral vanity.
Sorry buddy, I'm careful about managing my income and expenses and have several different insurance policies to deal with the inevitable storms of life. I have never stuck my hand out to a church for a handout.
Your sister learned he morals in her presumably christian parents home the same as you. Which explains why you've made this bigoted generalization.

well, the original Christian Church ... the Roman Catholic Church did it's level best to assert a monopoly over the act of healing. a lot of those "witches" that were tortured to death were village herbalists.
that being said... i venture to say that Fundy Christianity has done more to impede the progress of modern medical science than any other group. for the sake of a cluster of undeveloped human cells they'll condemn thousands, perhaps millions of people to a lifetime of misery and slow agonizing death.
so okay. Christian Churches hand out some boxes of food. Kudos! but all in all the charity they provide does not make up for the misery they have caused over the centuries and continue to cause today.

I don't know many atheists who "bash" Christians. We simply don't care that much to go out of our way. Generally it's because a Christian is trying to push their religion.
And if an atheist goes to a church for help that doesn't mean they believe in God it just means they need help. If the post office offered help they would go there.
Oh - and hospitals were around before Christ.
There were hospitals in ancient Rome and Greece (BC)

I don't remember ever going to a church or temple for help and any hospitals that I have gone to have charged me and arm and a leg (haha) for the privilege of being treated by a doctor.
I don't suppose you have ever used medicine or cars or airplanes or TV or computers that were invented by atheist scientists, have you?
It's a big world - there's room for everybody - try opening a window and get some air.
