Not in the version others do. If there were really an all powerful god it wouldn't be going down the way it is. It might work out pretty well. No need for police with an all powerful sky daddy. Well, maybe life would get too easy and boring. But wishing won't make it true, so I digress.

Wishing God existed won't make it so. I wish I had the ability to believe, to not find the whole scenario ridiculous.

The violence in the Old Testament appalls me and I still disagree with half of the stuff in the Bible, including the part that says homosexuality is an abomination and all those other ridiculous rules. So no, I don't wish he existed.

I suppose when you first realize you were duping yourself with a mythological "really happy ending," there is some disappointment. "Darn!" you say to yourself, "It would've been cool no to have to just die!" Those are knee-jerk reactions of early development. It doesn't take long to come to terms with the reality you've discovered. Yes, we will die. But there is this wonderful thing called life! And you will live it well, probably better, if it isn't encumbered or disguised by myth.

Do you mean, keep the world exactly the way it is except that there is a God? I don't see how that would help.
Of course, if you're talking about a perfect world and there's a God, I can get on board with that.

i'm agnostic but maybe close enough in criteria to answer your query.
i used to be a Fundy Christian and for a time after my escape from that cage i did miss believing in a deity. it was emotionally comforting and even fun to imagine that an all powerful super being paid attention to me. i did miss being a member of a group of heaven bound elites. however, nowadays i'm fine with an all encompassing undefined God concept. i'm no longer so frightened of death that i need God to be an understandable human like personage or to imagine i'm sure i know what happens after my body dies.
PS. as strange as it may seem i'm far more trusting of "God" than i was as a Fundy Christian. i mean... that Bible god is one nasty and untrustworthy God concept.

Why would we wish for something that never existed to exist, when it has no bearing on us whatsoever, nor does it benefit us in anyway?!
How bout this...do you wish he existed and showed himself so we would all shut up...now that would be a logical question for you.

Quite frankly, if God existed, even most Christians would wish he didn't.

Emphatically no.
god is portrayed in the bible as being sexist, intolerant, prone to bipolar mood swings that often ended in genocidal rages, and his first rule is "Obey me or be destroyed!"
I think we're lucky he is an imaginary character. Who would want to be a slave to a crazy man?
