If you're having a traditional ceremony (white dress, tux, walking down the aisle, etc.) I would stick with soft classical music in the background during the vows. I think "Air On a G String" is a lovely classical piece for something like that, or you can do "Canon" which is a beautiful, albeit overplayed, wedding song.
The reception is the fun part that's supposed to reflect the couple's personalities, so you don't have to be quite so formal here. Just stick with a nice mix of songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and now for dancing, if you have a DJ. (Some suggestions: "Shout" by the Isley Brothers, "Have Fun Tonight" by Wang Chung, "Brick House" by the Commodores, etc.) If you and your new spouse are especially into one particular genre of music (R&B, country, etc.) you can play a lot of it at the reception, but also make sure there's something for every generation to dance to. Your grandparents aren't going to want to dance to "Hollaback Girl," know what I mean? Also, it is quite important to try to avoid songs with profanity or vulgar lyrics, as weddings are typically family-friendly occasions, and you don't want your guests to feel offended or embarrassed.
For slow dances, you can never go wrong with the classics. "Unchained Melody," "Wonderful Tonight," "At Last," etc. are always great slow-dance choices that everyone can appreciate. For your first dance together, you should pick whatever song you think of as "your" song: even if it's fast. There's no rule that a couple's first dance together has to be all romantic and slow. I plan on convincing my boyfriend to dance with me to "Love Shack" or something whenever we get married. Like I said, it's your wedding, so you make the rules.
There's always that one part where the bride dances with her dad and it's all sad and everyone cries over the bittersweetness of it all. It's supposed to be a touching moment, so why not go all out? Dance to this one country song called "I Loved Her First," and I guarantee there won't be a dry eye in the place! For the groom's dance with his mom (which is also supposed to be touching, but not nearly as tearjerking as the father-daughter dance), maybe you could go with a nice song like "You've Got a Friend" or "Beautiful Boy" or something like that, but honestly I always think it's funnier when mom and son dance to a fast song like "I Feel Good." You'll need some comic relief after everyone almost passes out after crying during the father-daughter dance!
Good luck, and best wishes for a happy marriage!!!

While eating why not have some nice blues or jazz silently playing in the background as a noise buzz. For the dance you can have a selection of different genres as most of the times at weddings people have different tastes in music so you play a little of various so all can enjoy. Happy wedding and good luck in your future life as a wife and life partner.

No problam I can help you with this one....
If its a classy wedding you can play some Rachmaninoff, or Air on the G String by (Bach) Moonlight Sonata, or some Khatchaturian...the Masquerade Waltz!!
If it's a little more laid back type of reception, you can play some top 20 slow songs.
I find soundtracks with the love themes on them really nice!!
It all depends on the style of your wedding.
Legends of the fall has a very nice instrumental slow piece, Love Story Soundtrack....beautiful pieces...you could probably just let this one play....If you want a collection of background music, I know you can find a CD with every ones favourite love song on it!! I've bought one myself......
Good Luck to you.....Enjoy your Wedding!!

For the dance ---- this depends on your personal taste. Some people like line dancing and slow dancing while others enjoy hip-hop. So, that's really up to you.
For the ceremony --- I would suggest instrumental music. Maybe a favorite movie soundtrack or some classical music.

The beautiful melody from Phantom of the Opera. I think it's called "That's all I ask of you." If you decided to have a vocalist at the ceremony, the lyrics are beautiful. too. One of my all-time favorite love songs is a very old one called "The Nearness of You."
It would be a very nice reception choice for the bride and groom to dance to. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!

If you have music while the vows are going on, it could make it very difficult for some people to hear, especially older people. You might want to stop the music for the vows so people can hear and are really focused on what's going on.
