An environment is the immediate world around you, it is also a concept of "the whole". When the environment is considered in terms of what role it plays , then you are talking about an ecosystem. An ecosystem is what makes life on this planet livable and provides services, if man were to duplicate it, it would cost 30 trillion dollars, that is why we don't want to destroy our environment.
