It goes: Grown in the Earth, Nourished by Water, Carried by winds, Alas to be burned by fire. The reason why I am thinking of using this at my sister's wedding is because she is getting married at Chapel Dulcinea in Austin, and the chapel has all the elements. It is open and the views you can see the hill country (the earth and the wind). In the chapel itself, it has torches and a fountain of water at the alter. It is beautiful, and I thought since I am her sister I should say something. Any suggestions? She has been planning, planning, planning. I haven't... just trying to come up with ways to contribute and show her how very special she is to me. I shared a room with her for ten years growing up! She taught me what beauty was. For example, she taught me about art, and about caring for Mother Earth, she became a master Violist and is marrying a master Pianist. I dropped out of school, but have been following in her footsteps all these years, trying to keep up. Thanks!

I think what you have already is great. she'll totally love it, not only because it's grasping the event and place it is being held, but because it it coming from you. maybe you could mention something about music as well and how it has affected their lives as individuals, as a couple and your relationship with the both of them as a couple and as a sister. good luck. i wish my sister was like you. she is very lucky to have you.

That's a cool quote, and you should definitely use it somewhere in her wedding. Are you her Maid of Honor? If so, you have to make a toast at the reception, and you could incorporate it into the toast. Also, if you are the one making the Maid of Honor toast, you should definitely say all those things you just said about her teaching you about beauty, art, and fine music. Don't feel bnad that you haven't been helping more with preparations- what she really needs right now is a sister to be there for her and be supportive of her during the planning process. I'm sure she is very grateful for your mere presence during the planning stage!!

The quote is great until the line about being burned by fire. How about instead saying: "Grown in the earth, nourished by water, carried by winds, passioned by fire."
