REAL minutemen fought for American rights against the English.
What does Americans fighting for independance from the English throne have to do with this? If you can show me some real similarities

Same people, different era. These minutemen/women are exactly the same people. You are wrong to think that the minutemen have ever been dissolved. The minutemen are ALWAYS in the hearts and minds of Americans.

Since they are doing what other people just talk about, what's in a name and what does the name matter. If they contribute to the goal of keeping ILLEGALS out god bless them. For a small group with self motivation they are sure busting the balls of the folks that can't seem to come into the country in the right way.
You should check out the hate mail they receive at their website, and some of it even comes from the illegal trespassers themselves and not just their enablers here in America. The thing about this hateful attitude is that it is directed towards all American's and not just the Minute Men who directly expose their ILLEGAL attempts to cross the porous boarder

The minutemen were people who were ready to fight for their country at the drop of a hat. hence the name "Minute - Men"
The current minutemen probably could have chosen a better name, but i doubt that's what your gripe is...

the minutemen were American civilian militias used to help patrol and protect...that is the similarity...don't know if I agree with using the name but it is what it is

The REAL Minutemen where farmers, businessmen, blacksmiths,barkeeps, innkeepers, silversmiths etc...they FOUGHT against an INVADING army.

Actually, they named themselves after the Minuteman ICBM system. Lots of similarities: hide in the desert, costs lots of money, lots of rhetoric and bluster, never used / never useful, eventually decommissioned.
