o man, a tricky one i know! lol This is what i did, my hubby was clueless in the "well, what do they enjoy department", so i went to my sister in law and asked her. Start with the hubby then work out if you have too, but try to find something they are both mutually interested in. If they just aren't int. in the same things..do a separate gift. The nicely framed photo of your husb. or family and all the rest of the standards will come off looking "standard". Best to try to go for something personal..it shows that you cared enough to know or find out.

I am muslim so we just had Eid about 3 weeks ago. I gave my parents and my in laws both the same gift. I took a shortbread cookie recipe that I had and I made them cookies in different shapes. I made round cookies, and I also made heart and crescent moon shaped cookies with cookie cutters. I melted some chocolate and white chocolate on the stove over simmering water, and prepared a bowl of shredded coconut. I used these fixins to decorate each cookie (after they were completely baked and cooled, of course.) I dipped the top half of the cookie in chocolate and drizzled white chocolate over it, and also the other way around (chocolate drizzled over white chocolate.) With some of the cookies, I dipped it in all chocolate or all white chocolate and sprinkled some coconuts over them. I bought a round gold tray from the dollar store, and also some plastic wrap. I set up the cookies nicely in the tray and wrapped it up with the clear plastc gift wrap and finished it off with a ribbon (curled) and with in a note on it that said "To "mother and father in laws name", From "Husband and my name." They really appreciated the gift, and loved the fact that it was all home made, from scratch! It took up abouit 2.5 hours of my day, but it was worth it. They really loved the way it was decorated and loved the cookies too!!! I am sure if you make something similiar, your in laws will love it. Have fun and Good luck!

OK here goes:
Omaha Steaks or equivalent
Gift certificate(s) to favorite restaurant
Wine
A specially framed meaningful photo
cell phone if don't already have one
Gift certificate(s) to movie theatre, play/show, Netflix
Make up a basket tailored to a hobby of theirs
Think about their everday life. Is there something you could imagine them being grateful not to have to take care of? (a pool, the lawn, house cleaning, cooking) Arrange for a chore to be done by a service for a certain amount of time.
Don't sweat it too much. Try your best & it is all you can ask of yourself. Peace.

What do they enjoy doing? Where do they love to eat? Invite them out for an evening on the town with the two of you....or better yet...give them a gift card to their favorite restaurant. Do they enjoy the symphony, ballet, an upcoming concert???...buy them tickets! Treat them to spa treatments if they are into that. I would love getting a "princess day" for a facial, manicure and pedicure....etc.
