If she doesn't have the food she wants she throws a tantrum. When I first got her this wasn't a problem. I have tried several different foods. If I stay firm will she give in?

Yes, she will give in. Just make sure you're feeding her a high quality diet:)

Awwwww....I'm sorry, but that sounds so incredibly adorable!! I understand that you are frustrated right now, but awwww, so cute. Well, she is obviosly a female. My female cat is very tempermental as well. I'd also guess she is a tabby (black/grey/white). The tabby female is known for being a little "bratty" when it comes to getting her own way. I don't know if that is true or not, but cat experts swear it is!
With my cat, who is 8 years old now, we needed to stay firm and not give in to the late night, "I want my food now" tantrums. When she got picky about her food, we did change until we found something that she at least tolerated more than the others..LOL. It took awhile, but it was well worth it. When she was younger, she hated being picked up, so whenever she started her "complaining", I'd pick her up and give her smoochies and hugs...she absolutely HATED it, so eventually she realized that her complaining got her something she didn't want. Amazing little creatures aren't they? My pure smoky grey male is an angel, not picky, SO affectionate and well behaved (talk about opposites). Those same experts gave those attributes to smoky grey (almost a russian blue look) males and they were right on that one too. I wish I could remember where I read this
Anyway...best of luck with Little Miss Spoiled. I hope you enjoy a long lifetime of unconditional love with her.

My cat is very much the same way. He will cry, meow and sometimes just stare at me like I'm crazy for feeding him what I gave him. As long as the cat food you are feeding her is good then don't give in to their ways. She'll get hungry and she'll realize that she has to eat what she gets. Changing the brand or type of food everyday or too often can cause some stomach problems or maybe the reason she's behaving the way she is. Stick with one, if she refuses to eat for a few days then you should take her to the vet, something else could be wrong.

Kittens tend to be like little children - I think you need to stay firm with her.
If she throws a tantrum don't give her any attention - at this rate i'm sure she'll get tired and eventually figure out that that's the way it's going to be so she better just take what she gets.
Good luck!

I think the problem is when you give her different types of food it makes a cat finicky. Pick one brand and flavor and stick to it. She may throw a tantrum for a while, but she will eventually get hungry and eat it! I got this advice from my veterinarian.... my cat was sick for a while and could only have canned food. When it was time to switch back to dry food, she refused to eat it and was so picky about what kind she'd eat she refused for a while.

A little of "all the above". My Stimpy is VERY finicky but it goes to show that cats are loved for their attitude. Stick with something like FancyFeast in the morning and Delicat dry food in the afternoon. She has food 24/7 and is never hungry. She doesn't throw a fit she just sniffs and gives me dirty looks. After 13 1/2 years I can interpret her looks.

Remember this...
People don't own cats, cats own people.

It's part of the joy of having a pet that has an attitude and personality all it's own. Stay firm, eventually she will get hungry enough and eat. Trust me, she won't starve to death. If she doesn't eat in a few days, call the vet and have her checked out. It might be something else.

Mine did the same thing - tried different dry foods, UNTIL I gave her "Meow Mix Indoor Formula", that is the only one she will eat. Wet foods "Fancy Feast Sardines, Shrimp, & Crab mixed with canned Mackerel (bones removed) and mashed. Different wet foods is a waste of money.

She is just acting up, I have one that will do that if he doesn't get what he wants, just ignore it and she will eat when she gets hungry enough. Good luck
