When we went to the great wall of china the first thing I thought of was wow it's so high. Then we took a tram bringing us most of the way. The mountains and scenery were breathtaking. Climbing the rest of the way was a challenge. There were lots of very steep inclines along with narrowing stairs and hordes of people. BUT when all is said and done the long journey was definitely worth the effort.

I've been lucky enough to see a few sections of the wall and if you go to a bit near Beijing expect to see lots of people and very little wall!
The less travelled parts can be truly spectacular with this long thin shape snaking over the hills and mountains as far as the eye can see. Much of it seems to have been rebuilt in the last few years but you can still find original sections.
Not very interesting fact, only about one third of the original 5,000 miles of wall is still standing

I think it is interesting that people say you can see it from space when that is ridiculous when you think about it. It may be long but it is not very wide, the pyramids are big and square and you can't see them! And you can't see it on any photos of the earth from space!
Anyway with regard to the wall itself. I think it is very grand and historical but serves no actual purpose (I doubt the Mongols will invade again!). I would dearly like to see it and look at how it was made.

i idea it replaced into extremely a tremendous sight to make sure. In all honesty even though it is going so severe up into the mountains I had to carry onto the railing and look at my feet after I climbed the steps. Then i might want to give up to instruct round, nonetheless protecting onto the railing to look on the perspectives from diverse factors. On my go back adventure to Beijing i am going to almost honestly ought to stroll the wall again purely the stretch it really is throughout from Baldaling.
