You know that they offer no support or protection for your feet and with cold weather coming on you could get frost bite, I know your young and prone to fads, but come on now some day when your arches are bad is this fad going to justify that?

Because kids nowadays are too damn lazy to pull their pants up, much less tie a pair of shoes on. Also, they show no concern for anything that may happen in the future. Just look at Claria's answer for proof of my point.

Very few people I know, young or not, choose footwear for the support and/or protection it provides (especially we women). If someone wants to wear flip flops, let them...they are comfortable and easy to take on and off.

If you are going by protection (esp from cold weather) and potential injury to arches/the foot then you also need to address women and high heels, most types of sandals, cheap sneakers, etc.

The majority of shoes available offer little to no support for the foot...and only a thin layer of protection for the toes from cold (if they are closed-toed).

I love my flip flops. I live in Arizona so I can comfortably wear them year round. Theyr'e comfortabl, convenient, easy to slip on or kick off, perfect for a trip to the lake or the mall or to just step out into the back yard. They require no thought, just a pair of shorts and a tank top and you're all set to go. They give a casual, laid back feeling. Flip flops are awesome.

I'm not that young and I love flip flops.....when you're young you don't have to worry that much about your arches for crying out loud....and unless there is frost on the ground, the odds of getting frost bite are slim to none......wearing flip flops now are not going to cause any long term damage....trust me on that one.

I only wear flip flops in the spring and summer, and it never causes any discomfort. Quite the contrary my feet can get some air. I don't wear them all the time either, just when I feel like being more casual.

I think it's because they are lazy. I wear them in the summer, but during the winter.......come on!!! There are plenty of cute slip on shoes that aren't flip flops and will still keep your tootsies warm!!

They are trying to make other people think they don't care about anything. Talk about freezing your toes to spite your feet!
