First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. - 2 Peter 3:3-9

Interesting scripure. But I'm also interested in this: the term 'last days' has been mentioned, and keeping in mind two things: the lord's overwhelming power to stretch and shrink time, combined with the fact that the last 2000 years there have been scoffers like mentioned above, when exactly will these 'days' end? This could take thousands of years, or be in a minute. But in that very minute a 'scoffer' *could* convert to the true faith, so if the lord is truly patient, he'd wait that minute too, or those thousands years, else it wouldn't be fair, I'd say.
And tell me this: I am no scoffer, but in your eyes I'd probably be. But which of my desires are actually evil? My strongest desires are that people all over the world be stopped by blind judging other people, that people actually think before they act, that they take other people in mind when they take decisions that might effect them, in short that they respect other people and let them be. Another desire of mine is that helping people develop themselves, seek out their potentials, and enhance them, that they enjoy living in this beautiful world, and teach other people to enjoy too.
But since I don't need Jesus to actually do this, I am truly an ungodly man and I shall be destroyed by your lord.
If I'm to be judged by someone who doesn't look at my actions or my desires behind them, but at my lack of faith, and still wants to destroy me, please, let him do his thing, for I have nothing to be ashamed of and I rather live in hell knowing I have done right, than living in heaven for being a hypocrite.

I think it's from the NIV which is the very worst translation in the English language...
I much prefer the KJV in this instance...it's closer to the proper verb tenses in the original Greek:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

I feel this can be what you're regarding: Matthew 24: 6 "And ye shall pay attention of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be no longer bothered: for these kinds of matters have to come to go, however the finish isn't but." 7 "For country shall upward push towards country, and kingdom towards kingdom: and there can be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers locations." eight "All those are the establishing of sorrows." But realize what it says on the finish of verse 6: "however the finish isn't but"... so those are mainly non-indicators that it is speakme approximately, they're going to occur main as much as the top instances simply as they have got been taking place seeing that the time of Christ or even earlier than. Here's a truly verse related to the top instances: two Peter three:10 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief within the night time; within the which the heavens shall go away with a exceptional noise, and the factors shall soften with fervent warmth, the earth additionally and the works which can be therein can be burned up."

Of course, I HAVE to agree with it. It's the Word of God.
What do I think of it? ........the prophecy is being fulfilled. If we are fools for believing, then Peter was a fool.
But, grace be unto our Lord. Peter was right! And all those that believe in and OBEY this same God have found favor in the sight of God.
Indeed, the fools are those that refuse to believe. How can they obey?
Peace brother

It would seem to say that some people would abuse God's patience and use it as an excuse to stray a little.

It accurately describes the atheists who post here, doesn't it? I try to get them to read this, but they refuse. Maybe you'll have better luck.
Peace.
EDIT: Like you've never misspelled a word, "Old School." Please!
