I think that if you get f*cked over by someone once then that reflects badly on them...........if you let them back into your life, you should be guarded against making the same mistakes. If you blindly follow where your heart leads you and it turns out to be deja-vu then yes, the shame really does lie with you.

This is absolutely true. However in reality how many of us follow it.
And is it a matter of interpretation.
The true interpretation would be that if someone fools you....you are gone. They will never have the chance to fool you again. How many of us really do that?
Or would and could we forgive and not forget and if it happens again we leave? My guess is a lot more people do this if they feel forgiveness is justified.

I think that everyone messes up. I don't care who you are. You will eventually hurt your significant other badly. Second chance are usually in order. However, if the mistakes they make seems to be a behavior then RUN!!!! Run as fast as you possibly can because it will not change, even if they try, it goes back within a week to a month to the same bad patterns that are installed in their brain.
Just my opinion.

It's so true! However, don't forget the President's version:
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, and I can't be fooled again."

Yes I do believe this. Yet like alot of mostly women in the us we tend to stay even through we should leave. It may have taken me the shame on me but I have now learned my lesson.

Very true. I seldom have to learn my lesson more than once! But, there have been times when I was the fool for a 3rd time! UGH!

I definately agree with that. Especially since my sister was cheated on, they broke up and got back together and he did it again, they repeated that 5 times after. I say that is definately shame on her for trusting him again. So I definately agree with that saying.

Yeah I get that but then what happens to forgiveness ?? They screw up and want a second chance. Are we to never give second chances because its on us if they do it again ?? If we only gave everyone who screwed with us one chance we wouldn't have anybody around.
