I take it that you mean a ceiling, not a roof?!! You will have to find the joists to get a secure fixing, they will be there, probably spanning the room in the shorter dimension. They should be no more than 2' apart, depending on the age of the property, so you will find a pair somewhere in the area you need to mount your screen. Try an electronic stud locator, or use a long thin screwdriver and probe around untill you find something solid. Then you will have to mount a timber (MDF?) plate across the closest pair that you can find, then fix the screen mount to this.

If you can't find a stud and the screen you are trying to mount isn't very heavy, you can try installing using a Molly bolt. Use as many as you can to distribute the weight.
