Well my advice to you is to try and sit down and actually figure out which one of them make you the happiest and your reasons for wanting to break up with the long distance guy, because he is going to want to know why you are breaking up with him and sometimes the simplest answers that you can think of to tell them can really hurt. Like for example: " You're to far away, and you're not here enough for me"... those don't always work, because then the guy is going to want to know why you didn't tell them that sooner before you decided to continue the relationship abroad, and think that you were just stringing them along the whole time. So chose your answer wisely and be as honest as possible with the guy you might be breaking up with.

I disagree that the long distance guy won't know about as a reply, because just because he wouldn't know doesn't make it right. A lot of it I suppose depends on how you feel about the different guys, and what each has to offer you. You already know what the ex has to offer and obviously it wasn't enough before or he wouldn't be an ex, so he's probably out of the question. And to date your best friends ex may not be a wise choice either, depends on if you want to possibly lose your best friend. Myself I'd say stay with the devil you know rather then choosing the devil you don't know.

Soul searching first: Do you think the long distance thing is going anywhere you want it to be? When?
If the dating thing sound much better than the long distance relationship, break the news carefully.
As a compromise, allowing to see others in your LDR is an option too. Just always be truthful.

You are never going to have a real relationship with the guy who lives a long way away from you, unless he moves to where you live. Keep the long distance guy as a friend, tell him the truth that you need a real relationship closer to home, and that you are going to see other people and accept dates. Your long distance friend will accept this, as he knows he can be nothing more to you than a friend.
Start dating, keep your long distance guy as a friend, and accept whatever life has to offer you regarding love and romance.

Just because a guy is closer to you, that does not mean that he will care about you the same. If you feel as though you cannot be faithful to your long distance boyfriend, however, then you should break things off. Best wishes.

long distance never lasts. ive been there and done that. you should go for the closer. and depending on why you broke up with your ex. i would say no second chances. just stay single for now and wait because he's right in front of you. mr. wonderful is coming soon.i promise.

If your are happy then dont do anything. If for some reason you want some one there with you closer, then I say look for some one else besides the ex and the best friends ex. You're looking for trouble.

Talk with the long distance guy first. He may be thinking about breaking it off anyway, as he may be going thru the same thing you are.

You should only break up with someone if you are no longer have special feelings for them. If you can not handle being long distant then tell your partner and make an executive decision.
