You see them on the backs of cars all the time and on the local MaHaBone Lodge: a pentagram (point facing down) with FATAL written on it (Fairest Among Thousands Alltogether Lovely).

Is it coincidence that the Eastern Star uses the same symbol as Black Magick and Satanism?

suggest you contact " those in the know " directly rather than asking here. go to the local Masonic Lodge and find out for yourself and in person as there are many here who have wrong information. if a local Lodge is not available go to the Grand Lodge Site of the State you reside in.

They didn't take it from Satanism. Yes, it is a coincidence. The pentagram used as a religious symbol is actually fairly new to Paganism, Satanism, etc. It was, however, once used in the Christian Religion. But the Eastern Star didn't take it from anyone. It is how the seats are set up during their meetings. (I was once in the Eastern Star). But this is like saying Texas' symbol, the Lone Star, took it from Paganism when they didn't. (BTW, the symbol for Israel is also a lone star *wink*). The image of the inverted Pentagram wasn't given such a bad image till Christianity said it had a bad image. In some sects of Paganism, it symbolizes something other than "evil", but more about the state of being human.

You are really getting to be a Johnny One Note concerning Freemasonry. Maybe you would like to ask a parent whose child has been to a Shrine hospital how they feel about the Masons.

It's thought of as a satanic symbol because early Christians took the Pagan (non satanist) symbols and said they were satan symbols to discredit the religion they were trying to replace.
