Of course its possible your posture or where you are has nothing to do with fainting, many people think it is not possible to faint whilst sitting because they watch too much tv where everyone faints while standing for dramatic affect.

RE:
Have you ever fainted whilst sitting down?
I have just read some reports that many people have fainted during the movie Saw 3. I didn't think it was possible to faint whilst sitting down. Has this ever happened to you? What did it feel like?

Fainting while seated is usually caused by low blood pressure! I faint with it but not often when seated. I usually feel very light-headed and cold. Sometimes I feel slight nausea. A fright or a gruesome scene can easily cause a faint. I too read the reports and have heard of the movie. As the only thing you can do to stop a faint is lower your head below seated knee level and that might be difficult in a cinema, it is likely to be true.
Avoid it happening, it isn't a pleasant experience!

I have fainted while sitting-down once, and while lying down on a couple of occasions.
It feels like a normal faint without the crashing to the floor. All the noise and conversation of the room you are in seems to go distant, vision becomes blurred and distant, strange humming noise in ears... and then nothing. I was out.
The sit down faint was while I was having an embedded piece of steel wire removed from my wrist, and the lie-down faints were during the removal of a plaster cast from leg after it had been on for 6 weeks, and during a heart attack when my heart-rate was rapidly reduced by medication.

The only time I have fainted I was sitting down. It felt like being forced into sleep. When I came to I was still sitting in my chair, so I did not immediately realise what had happened to me, and had to be told I had fainted.

I have. It is quite possible for this to happen as your head is higher than your heart when you are sitting down. Its a really horrible feeling either sitting or standing, though you are less likely to injure yourself if you faint whilst sitting down.

well i have never seen that film but i give blood and often it makes u quite week if u give alot,i sat down for a break and next thing i no my boyfrend has called the blummin abulance. so yes its possible 2 faint whilst sitting down your just more likely 2 faint whilkst standing up . why?
because if u feel dizzy or sick(the usual symptoms before you faint) standing up is putting more pressure on your body =more chance of fainting standing + it looks more dramatic lol :P
b4 i fainted i felt weak dizzy my hands wer shakey and sort of like u feel just b4 u r sik...nasty feelin.

I have fainted several times while sitting down. The onlt thing that I really remember is getting really light headed things starting to spin and my eyes rolling in the back of my head.
