Is that not what christianity is by definition?

Its not a text, its a teaching by churches. SOme teach Jesus to be God. Some teach him to be his son, without being God. Some teach he is son and God altogether.

A Christian is a footstep follower of Jesus Christ, who according to the Bible is, not God, but the Son of God.-1 Peter 2:21; Luke 1:32

Some people believe that he is God because their preachers or religious leaders told them this.

The first link below will take you to a series of articles entitled "Is Jesus Christ God?"

It's commendable to see some using scriptures in their answer, but the majority just use one at a time prove their point. For example John 8; 24 where He says " I am He." However just before that , he was stating that he was from the realms above. Now here is how the NIV reads 24I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be,[a] you will indeed die in your sins."

25"Who are you?" they asked.

"Just what I have been claiming all along," Jesus replied. 26"I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is reliable, and what I have heard from him I tell the world."

27They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father. 28So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am the one I claim to be and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. 29The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him

When u read the whole passage , it gives a complete different picture. True , there are many verses that can be used to back up the theory of the Trinity, but likewise many that contradict it such as Acts 2; 34, and 35 which was spoken by the apostle Peter. The reason so many get different conclusions from the bible is stated at Hebrews 4; 12 the end part of that reading " and it ( God's word) is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart. "

There are many churches out there that are calling themselves Christian Churches, but they are counterfiet. They are not Christians at all unless they belive what the bible teaches about the trinity. You will not find the word trinity in the Bible, but what it means is Three persons in one. The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit are one person. You can compare it to water, steam and ice. They are all water, but serve differnt purposes, just as The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit are one, they each have their own purpose. All three are "God."

Christianity and religion are not the same thing even though most "Christians" do not grasp that. There are areas of faith that not all agree on. But if someone calls them-self "Christian" then they should believe in the "three in one" concept. Where as certain religions believe that Jesus was just a really cool guy or prophet the most.
A Christian is one who follows the words, actions, and law of Christ, opposed to say, a religion usually is based on the thoughts and ides of people like Paul, or other "Prophets" closer generations.
It might help to see the origin of different religions to understand what I am saying
Hope this helps.

The Trinity (that there is one God eternally existant in three Persons; Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit) is an essential Christian doctrine, affirmed by both the Catholic Church and all Protestant denominations. Anyone who denies the deity of Christ would never been considered a Christian brother by an orthodox Christian.

Jesus Himself, pronounced damnation on the one who denies that He is the great I AM in John 8:24, ""Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins."

Groups such as the Jehovah's Witnesses deny the deity of Christ which is why they are considered a cult.

Good point. "Christian" has become more of a political term or something that constiutes western culture. The truth is, Christianity is an eastern religion and Jesus claimed to be God. So, if a person is a follower of Christ, he or she believes that Jesus was, in fact, the son of God.

No christianity by def is being christ-like. Why some be that Jesus was God is because the called him Emmanuel meaning God with us. Others believe that Jesus was the son of god.

it's all about confusion...someone sat down one day and wanted to see how far they could stretch the scope of reality and then they wanted to see how many people they could convince to believe it. If you've ever read the bible you would see it plain as day (as long as you're not a sheep). Organized religion was created for one thing and one thing only, control. The more people you can get to follow one system of beliefs the more likely you will be able to dominate them. Think about it, sounds a little bit like communism don't you think? Remember Hitler?

oh that's right I almost forgot your question...jesus can't be god, he was born of a human woman, that atleast makes him half. and I can't really tell you why some people say that because the bible tells not to worship false gods or any other god then himself because that would be sacreligious. So maybe this christian jesus god of theres is a false prophet sent by the devil and they have all fallen for his disguise...I wonder what god really thinks of that?

Jesus was the son of God. He is the Christian saviour. God & Jesus are not the same. They are not interchangable.

I've never encountered anyone who thought that Jesus was the same thing as God. I'll be interested to read other opinions on this.

Jesus IS God made Flesh. Anyone who says different simply doesn't believe God's Word:

John 8:24, ""Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins."

Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, I AM: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. :63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? :64 Ye have heard the blasphemy:...

John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.

Jesus rewards those who worship Him:
Mat 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshiped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Mat 8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
