I dread sending out Christmas cards every year. I don't even really like receiving them. Anyone else feel that way? And, do I have to send cards to relatives that I don't like and haven't spoken to in years? (like my old, crusty great-aunts that don't even know my name)

Send them or not, your choice. But, you know, those crusty old aunts may not know your name, but that may be one of the few things they get at Christmas... to know someone was thinking about them. Imagine being old with not much family. The holidays are a very sad time of year for many people.

If you really don't feel like sending them out, then don't send them to anyone. But if you do send to some family, then it isn't right not to send to all.

Take a year off, see what the reaction is. I did that and it really made me feel better about the whole process. Now I send out cards because I WANT to, not because I have to.

I usually send mine out at the beginning or middle of December. I would say wait until at least after Thanksgiving.
I personally like sending and receiving Christmas cards. You don't have to send out cards especially to people you don't like.

I think Christmas cards should be sent out after Thanksgiving. I also believe in sending Christmas cards out to the people who have sent them to you. If you haven't spoken to them in years and have no desire to speak to them in the future, how sad for you, but there is no reason to send them a card.

Most people send theirs a few days after thanksgiving I have found. If this is to early you could send the second week of December. As far as relatives you haven't seen or spoken to or don't even know you name i suppose you don't HAVE to but remember its Christmas and im sure it would brighten their day.Its better to give than recieve.Hope i helped!

I don't send out cards anymore.

It got to be too expensive since I had my son. If your whole family doesn't get together, why don't you just call them up?
Even if you get the answering machine, you could leave a nice message. Just call the folks that remember you.

Don't send them then. There is no law that you have to.

Starting from now it's appropriate. And if you don't like it, then don't do it.
