you should definitely go to the doctors PND or depression are both very hard to deal with.It sounds as if you are still depressed and the tablets are just not right for you. Just remember it is hard but there is a lot of help out there i have been down the same road and i have left it go so long that i now have to go to counselling i thought i was losing my marbles but i have been reassured that i am not. Wishing you the best of luck.

Of course you should go to your doctor. There is no shame at all in PND and no reason why your marriage should suffer on account of what is effectively a hormonal imbalance!

Also, while the internet is a great source of comfort I know of a few PND sufferers on a website I use who have become far too over-reliant on it and are now using it as a way to communicate with others without going outside. I think it would do you the world of good to have a day without it and force yourself to go out - without the baby (your husband can babysit - even if this is after work). You must have some "You" time - you aren't just a mum!

Finally, put on makeup, do your hair and get dressed nice every single day, even if you are not going out. I promise you that it will lift your spirits just as lounging around in a tracksuit covered in baby stains will pull you down.

Good luck!

my wife had the same problem. She didn't want to go to a GP, since is what people do and get tablets and they never solve the problem, rather give side effects. So, she decide to go to an alternative doctor. She wen-to to a Chinese doctor, that carefully and for long listened to her complains and than prescribe her some tea , to be made at home. I can tell you, the smell and the taste and even at the look of the roots, fruits are horrible, but after no more than 2 weeks taking it, she became brilliant and happy as before. PS: it has been 4 years already and she never suffer such problem again; find a good Chinese doctor, not all are really good or professional.

men find it hard to understand PND which is prob why your husband is suffering...he's not sure about what to do.

When you do go back to the doctors bring him with you so that the doc can explain exactly what is going on with you, PND can last for a long time unless you get help for it and have the support of your family beside you.

With the idea of divorce hanging over you head isn't helping your situation either so talking to you husband about everything might be a good idea, even talk to your mum or some of your female relatives, maybe one of them has gone through this, they could give you some advice on how to cope with things better.

There are lots of alternative therapies that can help with PND - Quantum-Touch and EFT are both non-intrusive and highly effective on emotional issues. See www.quantumtouch.com or www.emofree.com for details. They're both fairly new forms of treatment but there are already a lot of practitioners in the UK - you should be able to find someone local to you who does at least one of these. Good luck.
