PD gradually takes over and eventually makes it very difficult to perform most ordinary tasks. He is fortunate that his is a slow progression and that Sinemet is controlling his symptoms. With any luck it will continue in this manner, and he will never see the dramatic restrictions that PD can impose. Look at the bright side -- PD doesn't kill you (we say that you don't die from PD -- you die with it).

Onset at 27 is very unusual for Parkinson's. Also, being able to drive 23 years after diagnosis is rare. Perhaps, you should talk to his doctor together and ask whether there is any doubt about the diagnosis.
Unfortunately, Parkinson's doesn't get better, it always gets worse. There is no cure and the drugs typically lose effectiveness over time. Some of the possible complications are: dementia (loss of mental faculties), side effects of drugs which are various and movement problems. He may not be able to look after himself when the disease progresses more.
All I can say is you listen to your heart but DON'T assume that this will be easy.

That's great...I'm happy for you both.

How long have you been with him? Would he take you with him to one of his doctor appointments? That would be the best. Then the two of you can talk about his treatment and prognosis. Everyone is different, so it's hard to even make a guess. It is progressive-no matter what-it will get worse.
