I'm a sufferer of chronic migraines too and I sypmathise with you. I shared a similar difficulty when I was at work; when I had children, I thought it might get easier but of course, you can never leave them alone to go and sit in a dark, quiet room by yourself!
I've found a few things that will relieve the migraine enough for you to continue working (although probably won't get rid of it altogether).
- Solpadeine (codeine and paracetamol) OR 3 aspirins
- drinking coca cola or, even better, lucozade (upping the sugar levels in the blood can help)
- stretching, going for a walk, getting some fresh air
- if you're in real trouble, take a triptan such as Immigran (however, this effects me in a peculiar way, although it does eventually get rid of the migraine).
I've found that, once I get home, I can really relax and then the migraine will clear.
This is obvious, but try and identify your triggers and stay well clear of them. Unfortunately this doesn't work all the time, but at least it will help you to avoid as many migraines as possible.
Good luck.

Try and sneak in a quick break in a dark and quiet place. Even if you can only spare 15 minutes it might help. Also ask someone else to answer the phones if possible, try to just take things slow and drink tons of water....also caffeine. Drink a large Pepsi with caffeine...it'll help the vessels in your brain to start working normally again. It works for headaches so it might help your migraine. Excedrin Migraine also works really well if you can get hold of some.

Other than medication specified by your doctor and going home to lay down...not much. You can try things like ice on the top of your head and heat to your feet. Effects are similar to drinking caffeine, but sometimes caffeine is what triggers migraines. You really need to find out what triggers your migraines so that in future you can prevent them from happening and be prepared especially if you are stuck in a situation were you feel you can't leave. If are not sure what your triggers are, ask your DR. to refer you to a neurologist as they are more specialized in dealing with migraines.

Many people have actually found that they are dehydrated. So, next time you get a migraine, drink 17 oz of water (not too cold) within 10 minutes. Many have been suprized with such a simple thing. Perhaps you will too.

If possible lower the light level and reduce/get away from noise. Drink plenty of water. Avoid looking at the monitor and rest your eyes as much as possible. Get comfortable by removing shoes or loosening clothes. If anyone comes to tell you anything that could raise your stress level, tell them to come back another time a you have a migraine.

Migraines are usually brought on for me by vision more than sound so try and avoid looking at this screen. Blink more because that refreshes the eyes and helps stop frowning which can cause tension and pain. Get off the pc more than anything!

I pop 3-4 Excedrin, more than the label states, but helps within 20 minutes or so. I also push coffee or something with caffine. This does have an effect on my body later, too much caffeine, but I would rather deal with that then being sick to my stomach. I also push on a spot between my eyes kinda at the top of my nose. Or massaging the lower back of my neck. Maybe try yahoo pressure points to see if that aids in the relief. You can only take so many meds. so pressure points can also aid.

If you have Migraine you should not ignore it and run out to get medication. You should see your doctor or GP and ask about stronger medication.
As for not being allowed to lie down, you should comment and ask about this to your boss etc. I go to a college and suffer Migraine and light sensitivity shocks and need to lie down and sleep. My timetable was adjusted accordingly so why not for your work?

Drink plenty of water (dehydration can make headaches and migraines worse), and try closing your eyes and putting the palms of your hands gently over them so it's dark and restful. Breathe slowly and deeply in that position for a couple of minutes.
