Why is it more acceptible for a black guy to date a white woman verses a white guy dating a black woman? I mean it's becoming more acceptable but it's still not quite equal. My x-boyfriend and I where beat up downtown by a bunch of black people because of it. How many white guys out there would or have dated a black woman?

I actually experienced a very similar situation. A few years ago, I was dating a girl that was half black and half Asian. Absolutely one of the most beautiful women I have ever met. Anyway, she wanted to go clubbing with some friends from work at a downtown nightclub (we both lived in the burbs at the time). So, we go downtown to meet our friends, parked and headed into the nightclub. But it was a popular place and there was a line out the door. As we got into line, a group of black males came up behind us and started making several inappropriate comments, mainly directed at my girlfriend. Words were exchanged and a big fight broke out. Four of the males jumped me and three black girls jumped my girlfriend. Before some off-duty cops showed up to break it up, I ended up with a broken hand and twelve stitches to close a cut above my eye. My girlfriend’s hair was pulled and her face was scratched in several places.

I grew up after the civil rights movement of the 1960's. I was taught that you treat people according to the golden rule, "Due unto others as you would have them to unto you." Despite the event I have described for you, I do my best to live everyday by those words.

There are many black and white people who preach and practice unity and acceptance on a daily basis. But unfortunately, there are quite a few who do not, and instead practice hatred, bigotry and racism. Until we find a way to change that, there will never be true harmony in our society. But that's just my opinion.

Probably because it is more "uncommon" than the reverse. People need to adjust just like they did before. Plus-a lot of black women have been very open with the fact that white women are taking their men, so maybe the roles are reversing. I am very sorry that you and your ex had to go through that, it is a real shame that there are as many ignorant people out there in this day and time.

And, to Love Always, Kortnei- Your comments about the white women that black men choose is uncalled for. It is ignorance like that, that keeps racism going. If you think that racism means white against black, you are way off. To think that white women who date black men are always fat or ugly and that all black women are beautiful and superior is plain stupidity. With that attitude the world is not going to get anywhere when it comes to equality amongst the human race.

I'm sorry to hear this. It so sad that in this day and age people can't accept mixed couples. When I was in high school (10 yrs ago) the black girls hated me because my boy friend was black (Im hispanic) and I never understood this. My bestfriend is black and her ex was white and they were together for almost 12 yrs, things didn't work out for other reasons but this proves it can happen. They delt with a lot of racial slurs but that didn't stop them from being happy. You really just have to feel sorry for those people, they are so ignorant that's theres nothing else you can but feel sorry for them.

It's not as accepted for AFRICAN AMERICAN men to date caucasian women as you may believe. It's just more common. AFRICAN AMERICAN women don't usually go that way so therefore it's not as visual. You're a sista but you said "by a bunch of black people" in a hateful way. It is unfortunate that this happened to you and you know how bad some areas can be. Everyone isn't like that so don't start thinking that way. I have caucasian family members and mixed grandkids. You love who you love and you date who you date. Too bad everybody can't leave ethnicity out of it!!

What sad people in your neighborhood. As long as people have feelings for one another colour, religion or whatever should not come into the equation. I once went out with a lovely chap from Jamaica and I am happy to say that we are still good Friends. If only people could see beyond the end of their noses, life would be so much nicer!

I ';ve heard black guys at work say they would not allow black women to date white guys. If a black woman flirts with you they get mad.
It's like tthe idea that if a person(tiger woods is agood example. His father was 50% white, 25% indian, 25% black while his mother was 100% asian yet most blacks deny his white or indian , asian heritage and claim he is all black . It;s a stictism black guys have trouble with. The sad truth is that black men are the most racist people, and you experienced it.
Black guys at work will attempt tohit ion white women when ever possible scream sexist or racist if they think a whit eguy ios interested in black women. They have soem pretty awful name sofr blakc women who date whites of which N---B---- is one other favorites. it really is sad.
Good luck

I've dated a black girl and had no problems. I live in a small town though, and I'm sure it's different in different places. People will accept it, but it may take another 100 years or so. Right now, only real people know it's ok. Phonies and immature people will always be around looking for someone to kick.

Not many, I saw a question like yours recently and a lot of white guys responded that they would talk to a black female and so to test that theory I talked to two of them who said they said they had no problem with interracial dating and so I emailed them, I talked to them with mentioning my race and both seemed to like me but as soon I as I mentioned I was black I never heard from either again...People say what they don't mean all the time or let society intimidate them I advise you and your friend if you really care about one another to keep trying sometimes other peoples opinions stink and prejudice certainly stinks and I hate the hypocrites they make society terrible ....Jus Lookin and Steve H. don't you agree

Look at The Drummonds from Different Strokes. Mr. Drummond really wanted a black woman, and nobody thought anything about that. Mrs. Garrett eventually hooked up with Tootie, so figure that one out! Don't believe the hype, its a sequal.
