Well what do you mean by "highly religious"? There are five pillars to Islam.
1: declaring your faith in one God and that Muhammad was his last prophet.
2: Praying 5 times a day.
3: Giving in charity.
4: Fasting in the month of ramadan.
5: Pilgramge to Mecca at least once in your life if you can offard it.
I have faith true, but as a muslim i need to follow these pillars. I must try to increase my knowledge and not do any thing to bring a bad name to islam. I buy and eat only things that are Halal. And dress modestly. In everything i do think of and thank God. Having said all that not for one second would i consider myself "highly religious". I live a noraml life as a working mum, my husband and i share the duties at home, i have a sence of humour (being scottish its a requirment). I dont go around talking to everyone about God all day long and preaching about my religion. Infact unless asked i never bring the subject up. The rules we follow as a muslim may seem daunting to someone on the outside i can understand that ive only been a muslim for 2 years and at first i though can i take all this on? But i have to say its very easy to live your life as a muslim there is nothing once familiar that is so complicated or strict. Infact everything in the religion is made easy for you, and only good for you. Not drinking alcohol, not smoking, not eating the blood of animals etc etc the list goes on... I hope this answers some of your question.

Yes U have 2 B. If U R serious about following all teachings, besides the main five pillars, U must not be a hypocrite, criticize others, speak of others behind their backs, spend money only when it is necessary, tolerate a harsh parent or spouse, wish for other what U wish for yourself, not be greedy and wish to have what others has, not watch porn or arousing movies/pictures, not listen to music…..The list is long. Did you know that singing is prohibited in Islam? Singers will go to hell. This might make some laugh. The general idea, is that God wants us to take a role to benefit society, can you tell me what good does a singer, poet, actor, painter do? We will be questioned for all our action, not matter how minor, on Judgment Day. This is Islam, not a play ground.
